Does your 4 y/o still nap?

I know this is probably a stupid question and I apologize in advance but my DD just turned 4 and hasn't napped in a year and a half. She still needs it as she conks out in the car in the late afternoon all the time. Does your 4 y/o still nap? Just wondering...

  • My two year old dropped her nap. :( I am really trying to encourage "quiet time."

  • DS stopped napping right when he turned 3. He still had to lay quietly in his room for an hour every day. He will look at books, play with puzzles, matchbox cars...anything quiet is fine. About once a month he will actually fall asleep. He is extremely active and really needs that time to calm down and rest. It also saves my sanity!
  • My 3 year old only naps at DC. I wish I could get her to nap at home.

  • I'm pretending that I did not open this thread. A world without naps is my worst nightmare.
  • We had to force my 5 year old to stop napping at 5.5 because Kimdergarten was starting (and they rest, not nap). We still make him have a "rest time" for 45-60 mins on weekends (if we are home and have no plans). At "rest" he can lay in my bed and relax, watch a movie, play with toys, etc. I find that his afternoons are better if he has a little down time. My 3 year old still naps. Eff that noise

  • Only at daycare-then she is up until 9-10pm.

  • I teach 4 year old preschool and they nap for kind of a long time. (2-2.5 hrs) But most of them are in very unstable home situations and don't get the recommended amount of sleep at night. The ones that don't need to sleep the whole time are allowed to quietly look at books or draw. To those of you saying you wish your kids would nap, you should ask your day care if they use certain music at naptime and see if you can get a copy; the routine of falling asleep to that might just be enough to help them nap at home!

  • My DD is 5 and she takes naps.  She'll come upstairs and snuggle up and be out.  She'll come right out and say she is tired.
  • Yes. 2.5 to 3 hours a day

  • Most days. It helps that he's in daycare and they have nap time. Sometimes he fights us on the weekends, but we impose quiet time even if he's not sleeping.
