Adoption

Intro! :)

Hello!  It feels crazy to be back on thebump again!! FYI, If my siggy is something crazy, forgive me...have avoided this for quite some time for personal healing.

My DH and I have been on quite the roller coaster for the past few years.  4 IVF transfers, 3/4 were successful but ended in miscarriages ranging from 6-8 weeks.  It has not been easy.  At all.  Our RE does not want us to give up, and we aren't, but need to move in a different direction.  With that being said, we have made the decision to adopt!!!  We have initiated the process by completing documents and hiring a LHMC. Our homestudy is on Friday!!  (P.S. I know IF acronyms like the back of my hand, but will learn Adoption ones ASAP! I know some people get impatient with newbies). We will be doing DIA.   I am so thankful this forum exists and know I will sit here for hours reading all of the current posts.  Already learned quite a bit from the past few. If any of you have advice for a DIA home study, PLEASE let me know!   Thank you!! Look forward to getting to know you all! :)

Re: Intro! :)

  • Welcome! I'm sorry for your losses. I'm excited about this next step for you. We are very patient here, with very little drama, so you should be good to go. I actually don't know what LHMC is!

A DIA homestudy is going to vary from place to place, but rest assured you will clean like you never have before, and it won't matter. They're not looking to disqualify you, they just want to make sure you'll make good parents, and will help you get there.

    GL and post often!

  • Dr. Loretta. So relieved to hear little drama. I am so anti-drama! Had to take lots of mini breaks beforehand because I always felt like I would be scrutinized for not doing a post right or something!! and P.S. I love your disclaimer.

LHMC-  licensed mental health counselor  :)

I woudn't have known DIA if I hadn't looked at your post first. :)

I just told my DH that we needed to vow to each other to keep the house clean this coming week, since it is spotless now! :)

    Thanks for the welcome!!

  • Welcome journey! I remember you from the IF boards. So sorry this has been a rough road for you but I'm glad your here. I'm in a very similar situation as you. Not looking good for is here with our embryos we have left. But we may not be completely done down that road as well. We decided to do fozadopt and are at the end stage of getting our big packet sent in and hopefully our home study will be in the next month. It's a exciting process and I hope this works for both of us! Good luck and please post how your home study went with some specifics id love to hear your thoughts!

  • Good Luck and welcome! We also had a long infertility journey filled with miscarriages before deciding to pursue adoption. Lots of luck with your home study!!

After 1 IUI, 3 IVF's with CGH/CCS testing, 10 early miscarriages, and lots of tears and frustration, we are moving on to Domestic Infant Adoption!  We are so excited to see what the future holds.
