Not taking bottle!!

Lo has been fussing at the bottle off and on all week. I noticed the other day when I went to change his diaper before bed that he was touching his ear, not tugging, but putting his hand above it almost playing with his hair. TOday he has had all of 8oz of formula, and usually by now he would have had about 16oz. I had some ear drop from previous ear infection. He is eating his "meals" just fine but when it comes to the bottle, its a no go. Also, his naps have been out the window yesterday and today. I am at a loss here......The ear drops seem to have not worked. I don't think this calls for a visit to urgent care, but DH is making me more stressed!

Re: Not taking bottle!!

  • I was going to say teething too. My LO has been pulling on his ear while the bottom two teeth are coming in. Doesn't affect him taking a bottle though.

  • Thank you ladies. He's been all over the board with feedings, naps, personality. FTM woes

  • Naps have been sucking here too.

  • It's gotta be the teeth. He cut his two front ones a week ago and I think the two on either side of them might be coming. He wouldn't let me put my fingers in his mouth to feel around. Tried oragel but that was a fail due to not letting anything in his mouth. He'd put his paci in then spit it out. He did this for a while. Hoping, praying for a decent night. Gotta get my teething tablets and tylenol back in stock.

  • Please don't take this as being bitchy but DO NOT EVER USE EAR DROPS WITHOUT DRs ORDERS! I remember a case I was following in school and someone had used ear drops that were previously prescribed for them and their ear drum ruptured and she's deaf in one ear. An earache can have so many factors and there are specific drops for specific things and using the wrong drops can have serious consequences.

On another note. DD did the same thing a couple weeks ago. It was a combination stomach bug and tooth popping throug. Count wet diapers

No, not hitch at all. Thank you for sharing. My doc gave them to us at our last office visit when he has some fluid in them. She gave us like 4 refills so I just assumed I could use them anytime his ears were bothering him. I never thought of them harming him. My DH has nerve damage that has left him with 50% hearing loss in both ears so I don't want that to happen to LO by any means.

  • Usually it's no problem but just wanted to warn you. I had no idea before that it could be harmful.
