Re: Need some cheering up :(

  • I'm sorry you're upset. It's a lot to handle all at once - especially the expenses.

    And check to see if you qualify for FMLA. If you do, they can't take your position away because they are legally obligated to hold it for 12 weeks. Here is a link for you.

    As for the GTT, a lot of ladies here (including myself) failed the 1 hour. Don't worry unless you fail the next one. Try and take it one day at a time :)

    Also, maybe to make you laugh, here is a little gem I found over on 1st tri. The idiocy should make you feel better about your own life for a while :)

  • I have GD, and ate healthy and exercised. I was very disappointed and already felt like I failed as a Mom. But my DH reminds me that it's not my fault and it happens to the best of us. If it helps, for some reason the 3 hour test flew by. Maybe cause by then you know what to expect! Luckily we don't have too far to go! Just keep swimming!! You're not alone!

  • I hope that you feel better and "lighter" soon.  I know the feeling of impending dread at the cost of childcare.  At this point all I could do was tell myself that if there is a will there will be a WAY for us to afford it.  It just means some really good planning.  Also its nothing reflecting you about the GTT you did you best and I'm sure you'll pass the 3 hour with flying colors.

    To brighten up your day here is a pic of my pup Brutus being dog shamed.
  • lol omg your dog is hilarious.....I recently shamed my dog for getting into our trash and putting a little bit of it in each room of the house.....thanks for the smiles :)

    FMLA applies to companies with over 50 employees (private sector).  If that's the case for you then you should be protected under FMLA in regards to your position.

    (Q) What does the Family and Medical leave act provide?

    The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) provides eligible employees up to 12 workweeks of unpaid leave a year, and requires group health benefits to be maintained during the leave as if employees continued to work instead of taking leave. Employees are also entitled to return to their same or an equivalent job at the end of their FMLA leave.

    Overview

    The FMLA entitles eligible employees of covered employers to take unpaid, job-protected leave for specified family and medical reasons with continuation of group health insurance coverage under the same terms and conditions as if the employee had not taken leave. Eligible employees are entitled to:

    • Twelve workweeks of leave in a 12-month period for:
      • the birth of a child and to care for the newborn child within one year of birth;
      • the placement with the employee of a child for adoption or foster care and to care for the newly placed child within one year of placement;
      • to care for the employee’s spouse, child, or parent who has a serious health condition;
      • a serious health condition that makes the employee unable to perform the essential functions of his or her job;
      • any qualifying exigency arising out of the fact that the employee’s spouse, son, daughter, or parent is a covered military member on “covered active duty;” or
    • Twenty-six workweeks of leave during a single 12-month period to care for a covered servicemember with a serious injury or illness if the eligible employee is the servicemember’s spouse, son, daughter, parent, or next of kin (military caregiver leave).

  • So sorry you are going through this!  :-( I don't know if it will make you feel better, but one of my friends had GD recently, and she is a runner and eats super healthy.  Definitely not your fault if you end up having it, and most likely you will pass the next test.

    Hugs to you and I hope things are looking up soon!

  • I'm really sorry you're having a tough time. Whatever happens with the GTT, don't blame it on yourself or your habits. Your body creates insulin to break down the sugar in everything you eat. Insulin is a hormone. Pregnancy throws all your hormones out of whack, so it's absolutely not your fault. But like PPs said, lots of people pass the 3 hour. I hope you feel better!!

  • I failed the one hr too and was more upset than I thought u would be. I eat healthy, am a healthy bmi so I was caught off guard. Anyways, you can only do so much, the rest is probably dictated by genes and other stuff you can't control. Good luck and hope you feel better soon and know UR not the only one in the same boat!
