What do you pack your around 18 month old LO for lunch at daycare? Just looking for some different ideas. Thank you! :)

Nothing too spectacular; it is usually leftovers from what she ate the night before.

Thanks Sahara78, unfortunately my son rarely has leftovers. Haha :)

  • If we don't have dinner leftovers, she almost always gets a sunbutter sandwich, or pita and hummus, with steamed veggies. I feel like I will have more options when she actually uses a fork and spoon.

  • I usually cook up an extra chicken breast and use that for a couple days - mixed with rice or pasta or just on it's own. And then I cook up extra veggies at dinner to use in lunch the next day.

    Other staples for us are:
Apple sauce (either homemade and mixed with a veggie like yams or the Motts Fruitsations cups)
    Cheese and crackers
Rice crackers/cakes and hummus or cream cheese
    Berries (straw, rasp, blue)
    Chex

I usually try to send one portion from each food group and then boost with whatever else I have on hand.

  • H makes the lunches so I am honestly not entirely sure what she has everyday specifically.  Most of the time leftovers.  We also have these little chicken breasts in the freezer that take about 10 minutes to cook so if we don't have leftovers we make one of those.
This week I think she took a sandwich.

  • Turkey meatballs/veggies
    Veggie burgers
    Sweet Potato patties
    Chicken Burgers/veggies
    Pasta or pasta salad
mini turkey meatloaf made with sweet potato/applesauce
    Quesadillas with black beans/cheese
DD won't eat sandwiches unfortunately, so I can't ever send them so I have a hard time of new things to send her in with
I always send in a veggie & fruit with her lunch, usually mixed veggies or cucumbers cut up

  • For lunch I send
    Pasta
    Quesadillas (cheese only, or chicken/cheese/corn)
    Cheese Sandwich
    Ham and Cheese Sandwich
    Cheese and Crackers
    Mac-n-Cheese
    Chicken Nuggets

Plus he gets fruit - usually grapes, mandarin oranges, or raisins

We also have to send in snacks - which include yogurt, cheese, fruit it, graham crackers, applesauce (or one of those fruit/veggie pouches), goldfish, granola bars or fruit bars.

  • She loves filled tortelinnis or raviolis. I end up sending veggie filled ones 2-3 times a week. The kid can't get enough of them. Other than that, it is usually left overs.

Then she gets 2 veggies. Last week it was zuchinni tots (weeliscious) and spinach muffins. Other times it is just carrots, peas, or corn. She gets a banana, yogurt, cheese, and some entries every day for other snacks.
