Cloth Diapering

Wipes?

Hi ladies. FTM due in August and we plan to CD from day 1. We've got our stash built up and I've always pictured using cloth wipes, but now I find myself wondering about the logistics, especially when out and about and traveling.

Do you guys use cloth at home and disposable on the go? All cloth all the time? All disposable all the time? Thanks in advance for your insight!

Re: Wipes?

  • Cloth all the time. There aren't really any logistics to it when your diapers are cloth too. Dry wipes in a make-up bag and a cheap sptitz bottle from target. It was actually harder when we used sposie wipes out because I would have to find a way to dispose of them. They kept ending up in a wet bag and accidentally getting washed.

  • I keep a few premoistened wipes in a wipes case that came with a Skip Hop travel changing pad. I sure you can buy them separately too.
  • All cloth all the time. Dry wipes and a spritz bottle.

  • We are all disposable all the time at MH's insistence. (That was the compromise. CDs ok if disposable wipes.) Its really quite a pain. I'd do cloth if we hadn't agreed on the compromise.

  • Thanks, ladies! I guess I was just imaging one more thing to have to pack (wipes and a spray bottle).

  • disposable for now until I run out of the 648 or so I have left and then I am switching to cloth all the way. It just seems easier and I have a very over-packed diaper bag.

  • We use cloth at home and when we're somewhere like our parents or a friend's house.  We use disposable on-the-go, and have a travel pack of them on the changing table for super bad poops.  We like Earth's Best Organics wipes.

  • I guess I am a wimp, but I've never gotten used to cloth wipes on the go. I love them at home, but when we're out and about, disposable wipes are much easier for me. If he poops, I just throw the poopy wipes away when we get home. If it's just a pee wipe, it's NBD if it goes through the washer. It usually just stretches and shreds a little (nowhere near as annoying as a kleenex) and I throw them away when I hang up the diapers.

  • I do cloth at home but disposable on the go. I tried cloth wipes on the go, but kept wishing I had the disposable ones for wiping DD's hands and such. So now I just bring the disposable ones. We go through maybe 1 pack every 2 months or so now that DH has embraced using cloth wipes at home.
