Looks like I might be headed for twins!

I had an ultrasound on Monday to confirm the date of my pregnancy.  We had thought I would be a about 7 weeks but it seems my periods were wacky again and I ovulate late (I did with my first pregnancy too).  Anyway, during my ultrasound on Monday the tech found two yoke sac's that measured at 5 weeks and 2 days, so too early for heartbeats.  I have another ultrasound scheduled for 3/3 (two weeks after the first) to check for heartbeats and confirm dating.  I'm so nervous that something will happen in between ultrasounds and we'll lose a baby... I'm driving myself nuts.  I think I'll feel much better after I see heartbeats.  Anybody else find out they were expecting twins this early?  What was your experience?

    I had an early dating u/s and discovered my twins at about 7 weeks.  They almost didn't see the second twin because the sacs were so far apart!  Even though we did see both heartbeats, I was still nervous about vanishing twin syndrome for weeks.  It is so hard not to worry, even still.  Right now, you have two babies :-).  Love them and try to enjoy it!

    Congrats! My 5 week u/s we could see two yolk sacs and very small fetal poles but mine were di/di so easily seen.


    Together 6 wonderful years.

    I had a u/s at 5 1/2 weeks with two sacs, my doctor didn't think the second one was developing and told me it was most likely a vanishing twin...I spotted some and assumed it was the second sac.  When I went in at 10 weeks there were two little babies with strong heartbeats.

    Like others have said take it day to day and enjoy being pregnant.  It's an amazing journey either way! Good luck!

    Thanks everyone!  This seems to have helped calm my fears and I really am trying to take it day by day.  I'm excited be it one or twins.  My dad is a twin and I think it would be really fun add another set to the family.

    We had the first ultrasound at 6 weeks exactly and were able to see heartbeats. Those first 10 weeks or so are super scary. I worried a lot. Good luck momma, chances of a happy healthy pregnancy are in your favor ;)
