NBR: DH's 40th Birthday HELP!

DH's birthday is 6/26 and this year he is turning 40. The problem is, I will be having a planned c/s the week of 6/16, so it will be hard to plan something fun, besides the fact that DD's birthday is 6/27 and we need to plan something for her, too. Plus the poor guy usually goes to bike week in Laconia NH the week of Father's Day, and obviously won't be able to go this year. I would love to plan something special for him for the beginning of June...any creative ideas? Too many June birthdays in my family!!

    I bought my husband US Open Golf tickets for our anniversary before we found out we were pregnant.  It's 2 weeks before my due date and he's not going to travel there any more.  We're going to sell the tickets but I told him to pick a weekend in September where he can do a golf weekend away with his brother or a friend.  I figured by September he might love a guys weekend and I can just have my mom or sister come help me.

    So you could do something lower key with cake, etc. on his actual birthday since june will be so hectic, but gift him with a weekend away a few months down the road.  Obviously this is budget dependent, but it gives him something to look forward to in early Fall.  Just a thought!

    What about doing something for H's birthday after his actual birthday? I'm a FTM and even after reading the multiple threads on c-sections, I'm completely naive to how long the actual healing process will be but I think that it would be better to celebrate after the baby comes and after you're healed so you can enjoy also. Also, celebrating later would relieve some stress from Father's Day, your DD's birthday and the actual birth day. Maybe pick a weekend in mid-July to do something?

    For DH's 30th I kinda went over board - we didn't have kids yet so we had the disposable income to do so.
    I got him club seats to the season opener for hockey, we had dinner in the club and a car service to and from the game so we could both drink and enjoy it.
    I threw a poker tourney for the guys and on another night had a surprise party at a sports bar where friends from all over the province came.

    It was a bit too much, but it stopped him from freaking out about being 30.

    Thinking of all that- I would do something before baby- and possibly focus on an experience instead of a gift?
    Maybe a party or event with his friends, including those from out of town.
    You know your hubby best- what would make him feel special? Does he love sports? Maybe see if you can find something signed?

    Maybe one last night out before baby with dinner and hotel room? If they have a spa you can do couples massages and if there is a pool you can go swimming. If he's into fishing/sports, maybe buy him tickets to go with a friend for the day and maybe grab the women/wives for dinner afterward? I know I will not be up for sporting events at that point. Maybe join a beer of the month club?
