  Does it have to be crock pot? If not, this one is fantastic and way too easy. I also add some macaroni before serving sometimes for the little one:

  I omit the carrots. But you could leave them DH doesn't like them.

  Yeah, it has to be a crock pot since that's how we keep them cooking all day. It's just way easier to start in in a crock pot and leave it there instead of transferring and reheating. The best ones are the ones you can cook on high for 4 hours-- you just toss in the ingredients and let it actually cook at your desk!

  Got it, okay. I don't know if the beef barley soup would fit your criteria then, we brown the meat before it goes into the crock pot!
