Re: Weekly Check-in ~February 18th~
1.) How are you related to adoption/fostering and what type (DIA, IA, Foster to Adopt, etc) are you involved with?
Trying to become licensed to do foster/adopt
2.) Where are you in the process? Any accomplishments or set backs? Feel free to vent!
DH and I are so frustrated. We should have been licensed in December but our licensing worker works slower than a snail. Last I talked to him he promised me I would have a child in my home by mid February but we haven't even been contacted about setting up our licensing inspection. It wouldn't surprise me if our homestudy still isn't complete. We will probably give it a few more months and then give up on this avenue.
3.) AR-QOTW - Do you plan on fostering/adopting more than one child? Why or why not?
Just one. We want 2 kids and already have one child. Really the idea of 2 scares me but so did the idea of 1
4) Non-AR-QOTW - Describe your perfect vacation spot - either one you've been on or somewhere you've always wanted to go!
I really want to take a cruise through the Mediterranean.
1.) How are you related to adoption/fostering and what type (DIA, IA, Foster to Adopt, etc) are you involved with?
PAP foster to adopt
2.) Where are you in the process? Any accomplishments or set backs? Feel free to vent!
The home study kicked off last week, our classes begin in March. We should be licensed by early April!
3.) AR-QOTW - Do you plan on fostering/adopting more than one child? Why or why not?
We keep going back and forth on 1 or 2. We both grew up with siblings and want our kids to have that experience as well. If we find the right sibling set we will go that route if we end up with only 1 that is ok too.
4) Non-AR-QOTW - Describe your perfect vacation spot - either one you've been on or somewhere you've always wanted to go!
Antarctica! I tried to go there a couple of years ago and the ship was broken which resulted in the trip being cancelled at the last minute. I really want to attempt it again. Maybe in 2015.
Waiting to be matched for DIA
2.) Where are you in the process? Any accomplishments or set backs? Feel free to vent!
We are waiting to be matched since December and have been shown a couple of times but nothing so far. No vents...I know we are relatively early on in the wait
3.) AR-QOTW - Do you plan on fostering/adopting more than one child? Why or why not?
We will probably adopt one child, we have a bio son who is 3 1/2, but who knows what the future may bring...maybe we will adopt 2 children!
4) Non-AR-QOTW - Describe your perfect vacation spot - either one you've been on or somewhere you've always wanted to go!
Our favorite vacation spot was when we rented a house at the Outer Banks for a week with some of our friends. It was so relaxing to wake up go to the beach or pool and then come back and cook dinner with friends and just hang out. Such a fun, low key relaxing vacation!
2) we were placed with our son almost 3 weeks ago and have our first post-placement supervision on Thursday
3) we would like to adopt or possibly foster in the future
4) either an awesome European vacation or a mountain getaway are my favorite vacations.
1.) PAP ~ DIA
2.) We are officially in the books! Now it's just the waiting game... Which I'm not very good at and we're on like day 2. haha.
3.) Well, we did say that we were open to twins so we definitely want 2 children, if possible. Not sure if financially we could afford to adopt 2 kiddos.
4) Our honeymoon was a 150 passenger cruise from Budapest to Munich, which was awesome. I really want to go somewhere that the water is that crystal blue that you can see for ever. Bora Bora perhaps?
Anywhere to get out of this snow! I'm done with winter.

November 2013: Applied & Accepted by the Agency
January 2014: Home Study, education class, Profiles
February 2014: "Officially Waiting"
1.) How are you related to adoption/fostering and what type (DIA, IA, Foster to Adopt, etc) are you involved with?
PAP in DIA
2.) Where are you in the process? Any accomplishments or set backs? Feel free to vent!
We. Are. Waiting. Waiting for everything... to have a profile showing, to hear anything from our agency... we are waiting. I can't tell you how agonizing this wait is. I need something to happen... a snipit, a training, a whatever. SOMETHING.
3.) AR-QOTW - Do you plan on fostering/adopting more than one child? Why or why not?
We will be adopting all of our children. We want 3-4 kiddos. Who knows how long it will take us in that process, but we have been planning from the beginning of our relationship/marriage to adopt more than one.
4) Non-AR-QOTW - Describe your perfect vacation spot - either one you've been on or somewhere you've always wanted to go!
I want a European tour. The hubs studied abroad and now he really wants to take me over there to show me all the awesome stuff he saw!
1.) How are you related to adoption/fostering and what type (DIA, IA, Foster to Adopt, etc) are you involved with? DIA
2.) Where are you in the process? Any accomplishments or set backs? Feel free to vent! We have movement towards finalization. After a pointed email to the agency director, the piece of paper my lawyer was waiting for manifested. Amazing. Lawyer either filed for finalization last Thursday or Friday. We are still something like 70-100 days away from finalization, but seriously, we've been waiting for him to be able to file since Oct. 23. I'm sure were going to require another post-placement visit because of the length of time and it pisses me off 'cause it's going to cost me another chunk of money- but fine- just finalize the thing already.
3.) AR-QOTW - Do you plan on fostering/adopting more than one child? Why or why not? Oh god. I really really want to adopt another child- but the cost of domestic infant adoption is so prohibitive that if I adopted a second kid, I'd not be able to give kid 1 the kind of experiences I want him to have.
4) Non-AR-QOTW - Describe your perfect vacation spot - either one you've been on or somewhere you've always wanted to go! Maui. On top of Haleakala at sunrise, up on the road to Hana on the black sand beach, swimming in cold spring pools. Hiking. paddleboarding. Yes please.
1.) How are you related to adoption/fostering and what type? DIA PAP
2.) Where are you in the process? Waiting. We've been waiting 1 year & 2 weeks. I am feeling very frustrated. We have not had our profile shown at all during this time. Our agency had very few placements last year (far below their average). Even if they hit their average for placements now, it would take two years for all of the PAP's they are working with to be matched.
3.) AR-QOTW - Do you plan on fostering/adopting more than one child? Why or why not? We would like to have 3 children through adoption but we shall see.
4) Non-AR-QOTW - Describe your perfect vacation spot. We are big Disney World freaks. We love the idea of just going on vacation and being able to do something fun each day. We like being big kids. We cannot wait to take our child(ren).
5 Angels
@Strawberryglobug - I can't believe you haven't been shown AT ALL. That just seems crazy to me. Would you be able to possibly join a 2nd agency? Not sure where you're located/if that's allowed.

2. Because we are going through our local DSS we are required to take foster to adopt classes. We start classes next Tuesday. No real vents, we are just a little nervous.
3. We will adopt one. I have a DD from a previous marriage and my DH is pretty much her dad. We would both like two children.
4. I want to go to Greece to see my family that I haven't seen since I was a child. It is so beautiful there!
Rainbow Surprise Baby due 05/26/2017
1.) How are you related to adoption/fostering and what type?
DIA PAP
2.) Where are you in the process?
We have just been accepted by our agency and are now plowing through the ENORMOUS pile of papers in order to get our home-study scheduled. We are trying to front end the papers so that our part will go quickly.
3.) AR-QOTW - Do you plan on fostering/adopting more than one child? Why or why not?
At this point we are thinking just one since we lost all that money on fertility and now adoptions costs. If we win the lotto though, it's on!
4) Non-AR-QOTW - Describe your perfect vacation spot.
I love Italy and am dying to go back but I also am wanting to go to England/Scotland and Whales a LOT!!
me:33 my wife:32 married in June '12
LONG road through IF ending in heartbreak and frustration.
1.) How are you related to adoption/fostering and what type (DIA, IA, Foster to Adopt, etc) are you involved with?
PAP still trying to decide between DIA and IA - probably going DIA route due to cost.
2.) Where are you in the process? Any accomplishments or set backs? Feel free to vent!
Still trying to decide which route is right for us, our hearts are pulling us IA but the fees are terrifying...
3.) AR-QOTW - Do you plan on fostering/adopting more than one child? Why or why not?
Would love to adopt 2 (not at the same time)... We have also have DD who is 5. Unfortunately, as others have said adopting another is unlikely though due to cost. We shall see!
4) Non-AR-QOTW - Describe your perfect vacation spot - either one you've been on or somewhere you've always wanted to go!
I've always wanted to go on an Alaskan Cruise!!!
DD #1 born 9.9.08 TTC #2 since 5/2011
1.) How are you related to adoption/fostering and what type (DIA, IA, Foster to Adopt, etc) are you involved with?
IA China / toddler from special needs program
2.) Where are you in the process? Any accomplishments or set backs?
Almost ready to send our dossier to China (DTC)... hoping it goes out on Friday! After that, it's 2-3 weeks until it's logged in (LID)... and then we're just waiting and waiting for a referral (match).
3.) AR-QOTW - Do you plan on fostering/adopting more than one child? Why or why not?
Just one for now. We have a bio DD who in almost 3, and our ADD/S will probably be around 2 when we bring him/her home. We're starting with these two, and we'll just see how we feel in the future.
4) Non-AR-QOTW - Describe your perfect vacation spot - either one you've been on or somewhere you've always wanted to go!
I know it's supposed to be non-adoption related, but all I can think about is China... so China it is. That's where I want to go! [:)]
Just wanted to drop in and say hi!

1.) Foster to Adopt
2.) Right now we are waiting to hear from the licensing specialist to setup our first home study. We've been keeping busy with trying to check things off the lsit they gave us, but I just want a call to let us know where things stand. It's only been two weeks, so not that long...I'm just really not the most patient person.
3.) We are 38, so at this point we're not sure what the plan is beyond having that first child in the house. We are open to sibling placements and are still trying for our own bio child...so only time will tell.
4) I love Alaska. Both the DH and I have friends who live in Anchorage. I've been up there three times and it was one of the must have places to take DH on vacation...now he loves it too. If it wasn't dark for so long in winter, I could see moving up there even though I would have to sacrifice my city living, I think I could handle it.
1.) Adoptive Mom (DIA)
2.) Our TPR hearing was finally held last week! It is truly such a relief to know that now we just have to finish out the 6 month foster period our state requires. I didn't even realized how it was making me stressed out - like clenching my teeth in my sleep & just generally snippy during the days leading up to it. As much as I didn't want it to faze me, I think deep down I was worried about one of the birthparents changing their minds at the last minute.
3.) We definitely want more kids! I would like to try IVF for our next one but DH isn't on board with it (yet). He is ready to start the adoption process right away again but I need some time to take a break from feeling so out of control of our circumstances.
4) DH & I have an awesome road trip planned out that we've never had enough time away from work to take - we'd need 3-5 weeks. We have a vintage VW camper bus and want to take a tour through the Pacific Northwest & down through Southern California. We'd hit a bunch of National Parks - Glacier, Tetons, Yosemite & a ton of interesting sites in Washington & Oregon. Someday!
