If you are a FTM (or for experienced moms with memories of being one!), what's the biggest screw up you've had so far? I think we had ours (well, really it was DH's fault!) last night. DH turned on the water for rinsing LO after his bath, and he didn't test it and let it get too hot. It wasn't scalding or anything, but it was definitely hotter than I would have used, and I didn't realize until DH filled a little cup and dumped it right on poor baby's family jewels.
Needless to say there was a BIG scream and much carrying on from both me and the baby, and poor DH felt quite guilty. Luckily the water wasn't hot enough to do any damage, though now I'm scared to give baby another bath, thinking we've scarred him for life and he'll go from enjoying baths to screaming for the whole thing even if we use luke warm water.

What's your biggest blunder so far?
Re: Biggest FTM blunder?
Worst mom ever?
I did this same thing 2 weeks ago. I put DS in his car seat while we were getting ready to leave. When we got to the dr I went to take him out of his seat and realized I hadn't tightened the straps. Needless to say I have not forgotten since.

The second was changing him at the changing table. I decided to go wash his clothes quickly. I start walking towards the living room and DH says where's the baby? I quickly realize I had left him on the changing table by himself. I ran towards his room. What lack of sleep does to you... I felt bad for the next two days. Nothing happened but as a FTM I couldn't believe I could make such a mistake.
@SunflowersBride My mother goes nuts over telling me to be careful on the steps. Our family room is in the basement, and the nursery is on the second floor, so we're up and down stairs a lot with LO. I am terrified of falling while carrying him, in part because I would hate to prove my mother right!

I can't even begin to tell you how annoying it was to call and tell her. And typically this might have been something I would have kept under wraps, but my mom is a nurse and I wanted to ask her if I needed to take him to the hospital. And now she's doubly annoying about the steps! (We rent a 4 level townhouse so it's nothing but steps)
I was snoozing on the couch with DD on my chest. I woke up to see her face down on the floor making little mewling sounds and moving her little arms and legs. I was HORRIFIED. I didn't tell my DH about it for at least a week.
Needless to say I don't do that anymore.
