Glucose Test

I am currently 28 wks. Was scheduled for a glucose test but the office was closed due to weather. Now my new appointment isn't until 2 weeks from now (30 wks). Does this pose a problem? I wasn't on the phone w/ a medical person - just an office staff - but am unsure if it's mandatory to get it done before 30 wks.

Re: Glucose Test

  • My paperwork said between 27-28 weeks. I think I've seen other ladies on this board getting it later. You can always call your dr or have them fax your lab work to a lab and do the test there if you're worried about the timeframe. They usually take walkins.

  • I did mine at 25 weeks for some reason
  • I remember reading some where it was done between 28 and 32 weeks.  I'm sure that you're going to be fine.
  • My doc gave me a script at my last appointment and told me to go do it when I want but just to get it done at least a few days before the appointment so they have the results. I'm sure they could send the script to your local hospital/blood draw place.
  • Unless you doctor has expressed reasons to be concerned then t likely doesn't matter. And if they had been that concerned based on you or yor immediate family's history then they would have pushed for it a lot earlier. So if say you are okay but if you want to double check with your doc definitely don't hesitate!

  • I think the only reason they try to do it before 28 weeks is just so that they can get you started on the diet sooner than later if they have to. I'm sure you're fine at 30 weeks!
