MMR question

Quick question about the MMR.  How long after do they normally have side effects (fever, fussiness, etc)?  My daughter is scheduled to have hers 2 weeks before we leave for vacation and I remember that if they have side effects it's a bit after.  I also know she might not have any but she has typically been fussy after all her vaccines.

  • My DS had a slight fever and a slight rash one week after the shot, and my DD had a slight fever and was fussy 10 days or so after it. Both were only a little bit under the weather for a day. I'm also just assuming it was related to the MMR shot. Neither one of my kids had reactions to any of the other shots, so their symptoms could've been a virus, too.

  • It's typically a 7-10 days after.  We made the same mistake as you and my DD had hers exactly a week before we went on vacation.  We were super lucky in that she didn't have any reaction at all.

  • DS was fussy and had a low fever immediately after (he usually does after shots), but about a week later he got a significant rash all over his body. I knew that could be a side effect of the shot, and it didn't really seem to bother him, but it was pretty awful to look at...I mentioned it to the pedi at our next appt and he made a note of it, but that was it.
