Where do you usually book through?
(FWIW, I'm thinking more of a flight only within the USA not an All-inclusive vacation type thing... If that makes a difference)

  • I've never booked a flight before.

  • I've found if you book direct with the carrier you get more reliable alerts to changes in flight status and reminders to check in. Also if you must do a schedule change you can easily work with their customer service. 3rd parties sometimes say their hands are tied so you are SOL.

  • I search through Kayak first to see which carrier is the cheapest and then I go to the site directly and book.  I find that I can pick better times that way.
  • I only fly along the west coast, so the travel sites don't give great deals. I do use them so I can figure out what carrier is cheapest and then go through the carrier's website, but only because it made adding a lap infant easier.

  • @ReeseFox, so where shall we go on vacation? You can book the flights.
@motherofpearl85 I want to go to NOLA for the Essence Festival!

  • I am a travel agent, so I book direct :)
I gotta go from DTW to OKC. Prefer a direct flight. Can you hook me up?   :x

  • I love Kayak.
  • But I should say that I pretty much book on SW whenever it's humanly possible because of points and their cancellation/change policy.  I'll even book through them if it's more expensive than another flight.

@Reesefox I love, love, love Essence festival. there are seminars and giveaways during the day as well. I prefer the super lounge acts during the concerts. let's make it happen. we can stay with my friend and save on hotel costs.
If your friend falls through, I have cousins in Slidell :) I would really love to go, but I don't know if finances will allow. Unless I find a new, much better paying job right nao.

  • These days I search through the third party vendors but typically then go book through the actual airline's site. The price these days is normally the exact same, and sometimes the policy for returns/exchanges is better.

Although if I'm bundling hotel/flight sometimes combining through a travel site is better.

I love Southwest. Also they still have free baggage!
