Trouble TTC

IVF, Here We Come!

So, after 3 failed IUIs, we are headed to IVF.  It's still sinking in that it's reallly happening.  I'm headed in with a positive attitude, and I'm excited, terrified, hopeful and scared all at once.  We had to take a short break after IUI #3, and wait for new insurance to kick in on 3/1.  I started BCP this week, so stims will start the first part of March.  I'm just gonna hang on for the ride!

  • While I am sorry that you are at this place, I'm also excited to have another cycle buddy!  I'll start BCPs either today or tomorrow.  Have you joined the Shimmering Shamrocks?

I don't mean to hijack your post, but I do have a question.  I see a lot (if not all) go on BCP before IVF.  Is this just for the 'batch' IVFs, or do you have to go on BCP no matter what?  Any why?

I have not done IVF but my RE requires several weeks of bcps before injects cycles because he wants to control what your body is doing. So he requires bcps to suppress the ovaries and shut everything down. Not sure if it is the same for IVF but just a thought.

  • @NotSoPatientlyWaiting So many of us have felt the same way and we are here supporting you in whatever way we can. IVF seems frightening... hopefully the new insurance will help with the costs. Best of luck to you

@Ky29 BCP are used a down reg before starting stims. As PP stated the RE has much better control of your cycle. But not everyone gets put on BCP.

  • @Ky29 I'll add that BCPs help to ensure that you won't have a cyst at baseline.
