3rd Trimester

grrrrr....comments on my body

I am kind of getting sick of the whole world feeling it's necessary to comment on my body. Seriously why do people think that if a woman is pregnant it gives them free licence to make comments, touch you, stare at you, ask questions, etc. I am getting more annoyed leaving my house every day! Today two strangers touched my belly, someone else asked if it was twins, and someone else said "you're about to pop!" (I have almost two months left) ughghg I'm just getting tired of the comments, seeing as there is no other time in a woman's life when it is socially acceptable for strangers to make comments on her body.... :(

  • Eh I get it. It's annoying but thank god it's almost over. People have no boundaries. I'll say whatever just to shut people up at this point. We have a little snack shop in the bottom of my office building and the lady asked if ie as about to give birth. I said yep but he's still hanging jn there. Funny.. What will she think the next 6 weeks she sees me?! At this point I don't give a crap. My clothes are too tight, I'm tired and just want time to fly by.

    Now we are complete.

  • I feel so self conscious, when the guy said "you're about to pop" I thought about saying "any day now!" Even though I am seven weeks away! Like why do I feel the need to justify my size to complete strangers bc they made stupid comments? Ergh the whole thing frustrates me to no end...

  • Whenever someone did/does this to me, I like to comment on their weight if they comment on mine, and I have no problem picking their belly if they feel it necessary to touch mine... gets the point across pretty quick if you ask me.
  • I feel ya girl. I am a weirdo when it comes to my personal space. If I don't know you, there is no reason for you to be close to me or get anywhere near touching me. I have had strangers TRY to touch my belly but I always move away. Would you walk up to someone and just start touching them out of the blue? Nope! So don't do it to me :) I haven't had any comments on the way I look... yet.

  • I'm tired of the same questions aaaallll the time. It's sweet that people are interested and I'm glad they care enough. My husband and I farm and I work farm retail getting farmers fertilizer seed and chemicals. I'm due right in the middle of planting. When people ask when I'm due I immediately say afterwards that yes we have heard of family planning! When I see people I just want to say 'I feel fine, end of April, don't know the sex, have names picked out. Not telling names. Anything else?' Just to get it out of the way. I'm flattered they want to know what's going on in my life, but the same questions are getting old.
  • I try and tell my girl she is pretty. I don't know about all guys but me personally there is something genuinely attractive about your woman being pregnant. She doesn't believe me at all though. But its true. You lose absolutely no sex appeal when you get pregnant
  • If you think about it, there is nothing more absolutely feminine than being pregnant.
  • I saw a shirt that said, "If you didn't put it there, don't touch it." I'm not one for slogan type shirts, but it made me laugh.
I agree with PP's... comment on my weight, and I'll comment on yours. Things like "You're getting so big!" or "Whoa! You really popped out!" are not necessary. People are dense.
Someone told me, "Wow, your belly really popped out there!" as her eyes almost popped out of her head in shock of the size of me. I responded dryly, "Um, well, there's a baby in there."

  • It is getting really annoying to me as well, although im on the opposite end of the spectrum. I didnt start to really show until about 6-7 months pregnant. now im 36 weeks and when people ask me when im due, because now they are noticing, I tell them mid March and then watch them do the calculations and then they become bug eyed and say " OMG your so TINY" ... WTH... its just as insulting to call someone who is thin or smaller framed skinny or tiny as it is to call someone bigger boned pudgy or fat. People need to keep their comments to themselves. Anything other than a congratulations on your pregnancy should be kept inside their traps. IMO

Hahaha! that's a good one!! I 'm going to use that next time.

That is awful!!! Who says that shit! To anyone! Ever!?!?
  • At first I get the "you're getting so big" comment but once they find out I'm having twins everyone changes their minds and say "oh, well then you're not big at all".  I guess I can't win or live up to anyone's size standards.  I have noticed that everyone has stopped looking at my face and started staring at my bump instead.  Plus I hardly hear my own name anymore.  My new name must be either preggers, mama, preggo, big mama, or the belly.  Sometimes my existence is bypassed completely with, "so how are the girls today" or they tap on my belly and say, "how's it going in there".  I can see why many pregnant women have an identity crisis.
  • You have to have a smart comment back. People have no filter.
Make them feel like an ass. It's fun
    1st loss 8/31
2nd pregnancy -TWINS lost DD1 twin at 8 weeks 6 days DD1 born 6 weeks early
3rd pregnancy- TWINS AGAIN lost both babies at 9 week appt
4th pregnancy- singleton- born at 38 weeks 1 day with the help of weekly 17P injections
    5th pregnancy- CP in June
    6th pregnancy It's a BOY

  • I'm not afraid to tell them that they are acting inappropriately.  I've only had one person try to touch my stomach and before they did I immediately asked the the heck they were doing.  It caused them to stop in mid air.  I said it's totally inappropriate to touch a stranger and how dare they say those things.

I've also stopped posting any photos on facebook since I don't like hearing about beer belly and other rude comments.  I'm 34 weeks, I should hope that I have a baby in my stomach.
