Willoughby as his first name?

I'm very aware of its use as a surname in Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility and that's one reason I love this name and am almost convinced of it, but I just wanted to hear what others thought...is it too unique and kitschy? Or can I get away with it? My daughter's name is Arabella and I want something equally...billowy. I would follow with a short masculine name just to have a balance. Thanks for your input!

Unless he's heir to an estate and title of nobility, I say no. It's just too eccentric, and not in a particularly like able way. I really like the suggestion of Sebastian. Also...

For some reason I just hear Wallaby. And while they are super cute animals, I would no want my LO to have a name that sounded like an animal.

Just the willo part of the name is enough to make me hate it for a boy. It is very soft sounding and I personally don't care for soft names for boys.

I'm not a fan, but Arabella is beautiful. Maybe flip the masculine middle name to the first name and do Willoughby as a middle name?

Wow, thanks everyone! Not offended at all by all the hates and dislikes. All your suggestions were great and most are even on my list. So, no, no Willoghby...some of you mentioned things associated that I had not thought of and am glad to have a dozen "second" opinions!

I vote Darcy. If you're going to go the Jane-ite route, and you're looking for something "billowy" you have to go with Darcy!

Seriously, though, I would be hard pressed to name my son after such a notorious literary scoundrel.

Of the others, I like Sebastian and Timothy. The latter is my own son's name, and I don't think of it as "billowy" at all, though!
