Special Needs

How do you know...?

Hi all! I was wondering. We here all have special LOs and I think we get services like PT, OT, etc for our kids. My question is... How do you KNOW what services your child is entitled to? What services SHOULD I be fighting for DD to get? DD is nearly 15 months and only has PT, 30 minutes once a week and the same for speech. She was evaluated for services at 6 months for PT and 1 yr for speech because I insisted due to a friend's prompting. But since then there has been no communication about whether she is going to be reevaluated for other or more time or what ever. I didn't know about the speech until someone told me I was entitled to get it to help DD. What else am I missing out on? How do you know what to fight for?

Re: How do you know...?

  • Honestly, I didn't always know and in some cases I was wrong!  I have found that asking other therapists and teachers, and asking for evals, always led to the right answer. :)
