Partial placental abruption and IUGR and now pregnant with number 2!

Hello everyone. I am hoping someone has any kind of experience or advice. DD was born 6 weeks early due to partial placental abruption and IUGR and was a csection. I am so nervous of this happening again. It is my worst fear. Being the the NICU was so difficult and I pray with everything it will not happen again. My previous OB said after I had DD that when I got pregnant with the next LO he was going to put me on a baby aspirin right away. Well, my OB left the practice so now I am seeing a new one and he won't start me on it right away. I do not even know if he eventually will put me on it either. I have my first appointment with him March 4. Any success stories out there? TIA!

  • Did he say why he wasn't following the other OB's recommendation? You could always try to find another OB that will take time to review your history and go with what your previous OB recommended (unless it was never noted in the file).
I'm not sure what kind of success story you are looking for.

  • I had pre-e and a full abruption at 30w6d and DD was delivered by c-section as well.  We are currently pregnant with #2 and I am on Lovenox as well as baby aspirin due to a clotting factor and my history.  Did you have any testing done after the pregnancy?  I would express your concerns to the current OB and if you are not comfortable with the answers you receive find a new one.  We have done multiple consults during this pregnancy to make sure we are doing everything right.  Luckily all the opinions have been close, but there are differences.  I was told if you ask 10 perinatologists the same question you will get 12 different answers.  You need to find the answer that makes you feel comfortable.  Good luck!
  • @PrincessBritt17  I did have testing and I had no negative result. So basically the abruption happened with noknown origin/cause. I have an appointment march 4 and plan on asking him about what his plan is and if I should just go right to a high risk OB.  Hopefully he will put me at ease. Thank you!

  • I had IUGR with no known cause with my DS.  My OB's plan for next time is to start me on Lovenox too, so that certainly sounds like your old OB thinks along the same lines.  If I were you, I think I would seek a second opinion.  It can't hurt.  Best of luck to you!
