I know we had this discussion last week when I complained my pelvis was SO sore that a physio had me start wearing a support belt
I just wanted to let you guys know - because I didn't know this.....
9 days of wearing it later (I pretty much wore it all day because I was sore and when I took it off it HURT!)
on Monday I went to put it back on after a visit to the bathroom and the pain on my right side was SO bad I couldn't put any weight on my right leg. Then it was sore moving my leg to drive, walking, etc - all bad
I got back into the PT the next day and she said I should NOT be wearing it all the time at this stage, and that my muscles had started relying on it already, rather than supporting myself
She said ONLY wear it if you're in pain, but it's better at this point (18 weeks) to just do exercises to stregthen the area and work on getting it stronger rather than letting the belt do the work, because that'll just cause pain when you take it off - and 22 weeks of that will not be pleasant
SO I am religiously doing my exercises and haven't worn the belt since my appt (2 days now) it's consistently sore, but I'm hoping these kegels, butt clenches and leg lifts will do the trick and allow my muscles to support themselves a bit longer
Just wanted to let others know, as I had never thought of that the belt might be working against me!!
