Baby 7-piece bedding sets..worth it?

For those who have babies and kids older than Miss G (15 mos), if you bought a bedding set with a comforter, did you ever use the comforter? As a first time mom, I fell into the trap of the 7-piece set and used the bumper for 3 months before it was too difficult to change the sheet all the time with the thick bumper. Also didn't use the comforter until now, but only during naps, since she moves from one end of the bed to the other at night. Do older kids really use the comforters? I'm not planning to buy the 7-piece sets for the boys, but they do have 3-piece, with the comforter, sheet, and crib skirt. Use breathable bumpers and love them.

I did not use any of it other than the sheet. I thought we would but wished we had not wasted out money. We never used a bumper, and my mom made some blankets that I felt safer using. In my opinion I think they are a waste.

I just did the 3 piece set with my son. the comforter is just decoration and hangs on the back of the rocking chair

Nope. The comforter sat on a chair and the bumper was never used. I wish we never bought it with my daughter.

With our bedding set we got a comforter, sheet, bedskirt, and diaper stacker. I purposely picked a set that didn't come with bumpers since I knew I wouldn't use them. We use everything except the comforter, but will probably use that eventually. We also bought several of the coordinating items such as changing pad covers, lamp, and mobile. We will probably do the same if we have another child or reuse my sons set.

I bought the set with DS and it was mostly used, but still expensive. With DD I bought what I needed separately. Like I bought coordinating sheets and skirt, the found cute curtains that looked nice. So much easier.

I didn't bother with the comforter. I got my bedding from PBK and bought the sheets, bumper and crib skirt.

I had a custom set made by someone on etsy that was a skirt, sheet, quilt, and travel blanket. The quilt didn't get used until around DS's first birthday, but we do put it on him every night now (sometimes he's buried under it when we get him up, sometimes it's on the other side of the crib).

We bought individual pieces to go with the colors we were using (navy and pink). We have several different crib sheets, 1 crib skirt and we used breathable bumpers for awhile. I will not use those again in the future.
Now she has a pillow and an a small afghan blanket with the crib sheet.

If we had bought it, I would have used it once we converted her crib to a toddler bed. Instead we used a fleece throw blanket.

Our set had a comforter, sheet and skirt. The only thing we really use is the skirt. The comforter is more like a decoration hanging over the rocking chair, and we ended up getting softer crib sheets that I like better than the one that came with the set.

With DS we just bought sheets, a matching skirt, and a white breathable bumper. Once he was old enough we circulated through several baby blankets. With DD I found a really good deal on a sheet/bed skirt set I liked that happened to come with a comforter. I didn't bother pulling out the breathable bumper this time. It just got in the way with DS and he used it as a climbing apparatus. We don't use the comforter for DD but maybe we will when we convert the crib to a toddler bed... who knows.

I did not get a set with a bumper because I knew we wouldn't use it - just a sheet, bedskirt and comforter. The comforter was a decoration on the back of the glider until this week. At 20 months, I am comfortable letting LO use it in her bed.

I just bought crib sheets (A&A) and made a crib skirt (I couldn't find anything I liked and matched my theme). No comforters. Maybe next up I'll just go into toddler bedding since it fits the crib mattress.
