I'm struggling on picking a diaper bag! I know it shouldn't be this hard but I don't want to spend $150 on one but don't want a cheap 30$ on either. Anyone have a middle of the road one they really like?
I'm not a designer/upscale bag person at all. I usually couldn't careless about such things.
I got a Petunia Picklebottom with my first and it's great. So many well organized pockets, great organizations, cute patterns (without being baby), thick, quality straps and zippers.
It's 2.5 years old and still looks new. I'm using it again for this kid. So basically it's like the price fo two $60.00 bags I'd have bought otherwise.
I paid a little extra for mine around 160$ its Vera Bradley but I have always had Vera's that have lasted a really long time. My mom got travel bag when I was born (27 years ago) and she STILL uses it and you cant tell the age! You can get them at outlet prices as well. I haven't got to use mine yet since my LO isn't here yet but I am looking forward to it and already in love!! Good luck with finding one perfect for you.
With my first I probably only used a diaper bag for the first couple of months. After that I just carried an extra diaper and wipes in my purse, and always an extra outfit in the car.
Goodness . I couldn't imagine spending money on one. Maybe when he's bigger? I use a hobo purse and throw the essentials in it. (7 weeks old.. Not much to throw). But my hospital gave me a very nice one as a new mommy gift. I think I got an expensive one at my shower.. But man, it seems tiny.
I got mine from goodwill actually. It was a name brand one I had already been researching and looked brand new! Mostly luck I suppose, or fate Ended up only paying a couple bucks for it. Might try to convince the DH to buy me a coach diaper bag for our Anniversary though
I got mine at Babies R Us. It's a Carter one. I wanted one that was gender neutral and that my DH wouldn't mind holding. I don't really understand the reason for needing a super expensive bag.
I have an eddie bauer tote diaper bag and I love it. It's the perfect size for carrying a lot or just a few things. We usually spend several hours at a time whenever we're out and about, so we tend to have to carry a lot. We can carry PLENTY of diapers (we usually carry around 5) plus a package of wipes, my wallet, snacks, formula/ a few bottles, a couple water bottles, and a few toys.
Most of my friends, who are mommies, have the "petunia pickle bottom" bags and LOVE them. They say they are worth every penny. They have a place for everything and most come w/ the pull-out changing pad for when in public. So.......that is brand I registered for.
I am someone who doesn't see the point in dropping a ton of money on labels. I bought a NWT diaper bag at a yard sale for $5 for my son. It is great, nice and sturdy, plenty of pockets, has done just fine for the past 2 1/2 years.
I got a Petunia Pickle Bottom weekender its big and I love it. I needed something larger for the two boys I've learned with my first son I have to have at least one change of clothes in the bag there are a million pockets and the bag is so pretty. In fact I am using it as a hospital bag as well. They even gave me one of their baby beginings books for free when I ordered my bag. So now I have a list of DS1 allergies the kids pediatrician a notified letter allowing In laws to seek emergency care for the boys if they are baby sitting for us. I have to say their products are really worth the money.
I just got my PPB, I got mine with a discount & a coupon, cost less than $125. I didn't think this was bad, most of the moms know have this, Coach or Kate Spade, and their all up there in price esp. Coach & Kate Spade, so $125 for me was good, especially since it will more than likely become my purse!
We had a Target diaper bag for our first baby, and it went through the RINGER. Lots of stuffing for week-long road trips. It lasted about 3 years before the leather strap finally broke.
This time, I'm looking into Vera Bradley and Timi & Lesliee ... I'll gladly spend more money for a nice bag that will look good and last a long time. A lot of these can be used as laptop/camera bags after baby duty because of all the padding.
I got one from Okiedog for $40. Lots of space, lots of pockets, and a bunch of accessories (stroller clips, insulated bottle bag, etc. It's made of like a nylon so it'll be easily washable and there are a lot of style/design options. Plus google a coupon code -- I had gotten 20% off and free shipping.
For my DS I had a basic bag from Target - it got the job done but I never really liked it that much.
For this baby I got two new bags - one is a Ju-Ju-Be and the other is a Skip Hop Duo. I don't think either was $150, but they are much nicer than the utilitarian bag I had the first time around.
I would keep an eye out for the Ju-Ju-Be's going on sale - ours was definitely marked down when we bought it. And the Skip Hops are generally less than $100 but still really nice bags.
I have heard good things about the PPB's too, but again, try to catch them on sale.
Re: Diaper bags
Honestly, get the better one.

Amazon usually has them for a decent price.
