Separating multiples for a few days

I am flying home in a few weeks for a family function and my DH and I are considering having me take one twin and leave the other home with him. We've been negotiating for awhile now and this just seems to make sense because neither of us wants to be away from them for that long (5 days). And as much as we will miss the one we are not with, it will be really great to have some one on one time. Has anyone ever done this? Was it hard on your kids? On you? They are 15 months.

  • It sounds like a great idea. They are individuals not one :)

  • I never actually have but we would if the opportunity presented itself. I love love love spending one on one time so I think it would be a great experience, aside from missing the one who's home of course. I say go for it!

  • My boys are the same age, and I would be very open to this scenario.

My only consideration is who would be easier on the plane. DD is a little more clingy and completely obsessed with books while DS just wants to run and climb everything in sight, so at the moment, DD is probably my choice. That could change though!

  • I haven't separated my boys for that long but I would be open to it and I think mine would have done fine. They have a twin bond but not a super-close one. They were really sweet with each other in some ways as babies/young toddlers but really didn't play together much till they turned 3.
