Some people just don't get it.
MIL called last night at 9:51. Obviously P was sleeping. We were in bed talking, not quite asleep, but almost. She was calling to "check in" and see how we were doing. WTH. If you're calling that late (especially on a weekday), it had better be an emergency.
I also have a friend who calls, but never leaves a message if I don't pick up. And she's one of those people that you can never get off the phone. She called yesterday while I was unloading groceries and I missed it. No message. No text. What's so hard about leaving a message? I really don't feel like setting aside an hour to call her back.
Re: Phone Etiquette (or lack thereof)
Call me at 6 AM-- we are awake.
9 PM -- no way.
I freaking hate voice mail.

My mom called during the dinner hour on Valentine's Day and was disappointed that we couldn't skype right then and there. And here's a gem - I love my in-laws, I really do but I had a serious issue with my sister-in-law a couple of years ago regarding in the middle of the night texts. I keep my phone on so that I could use it as an alarm and because we don't have a landline. Please follow along with the timeline:
10:30 p.m. - SIL sends the family a text to tell us all that they were taking their 3 year old to the ER b/c he was in pain. OMG. Hope he is ok. Thanks for letting us know.
12 a.m. - Sends a family text to tell us all that they are still waiting to see the doctor. Ok. Thanks.
1:30 a.m. - Sends a family text to tell us all that they were finally admitted to a room, still waiting for a doctor. Ok.
2:00 a.m. - Sends a family text to tell us all that son was just backed up and needed an enema. At this point, I am shaking at DH, yelling at him, asking what the hell is wrong with his sister that she is texting us about poop.
4:30 a.m. - Sends a family text to tell us all that they are now home. I wanted to kill. DH. His sister. Whomever.
5:15 a.m. - My alarm goes off and I am in a foul mood. DH is clueless. Slept through the whole thing. When I get home after work that day, he says to me, "So, um, my sister. She sent us a lot of text messages last night, didn't she?"
ETA: Some people just don't get phone etiquette.
