Re: ***2nd Tri Checkin 2/18/14***

  • 21wk6d today - next u/s and OB appointment is this Friday, not sure how it's going to go.  I'm still struggling with leg/feet swelling (couldn't even get my shoes on this morning!), and my right hand carpal tunnel is now almost as bad as my left, which is making it harder and harder to function - it's hard to type with wrist braces on, I can't hold a pen with one on my right hand -- it just sucks to be me right now.

I am excited to see the babies again in a few days, though - this is the longest we've gone without an u/s!  A whole month!!  I finally felt baby girl moving a few days ago (I've been feeling baby boy for a few weeks now...but she's 25% smaller, so I figured it would take longer to really notice her movements), so that's exciting! :o)

QOTW:  I don't think I have a favorite baby thing yet - most of what we've bought so far is practical stuff (car seats, cribs, dressers, bedding).  I have gone crazy on Zulily lately, though, and found some adorable coordinating outfits for them for the summer, which I can't wait to see!

  • Hey girls,

Not a whole lot to report. Today has been a fun day though...3am I woke up in so much pain from gas pressure, I could barely move for 2 hours! Then my neighbor invited me to go walk around the mall for a bit, so I went with her, got to the first store and felt so dizzy, sweaty and weak, my vision evn got blurry. I felt like I was going to pass out and immediately found a chair to sit in and stayed there for half an  hour sipping my water. I had a couple eggo waffles before I left, but I guess I should have made sure I had something else to sustain me. This no appetite thing is really getting to me...I struggle to force food in my mouth, so I know I am not getting all the nutrients I should be, but what can I do? If I eat too much, I feel sick and gaggy.

QOTW: I am pretty excited about purchases. I joined this local mom's forum where we moved and they have a buy/sell/trade board and I happened to see someone posted this fisher price jungle swing (that was on my registry) and was selling it for $50! Her baby is only 11 weeks old, they got the swing brand new in December, but the baby ended up not really using it...I got a practically brand new swing that regularly costs at least $130 for $50! I can just wash the seat cover and it's ready for baby!

  • Hello 2nd Tri Ladies!! Thinking of you all! I'm 18w4d and feeling great! I'm definitely starting to slow down a bit but no complaints! We have our 3D u/s next week, and I am counting down the seconds! We haven't seen the babies since 13 weeks. Feels like forever ago! I'm also dying to feel a punch or a kick already. I feel lots going on from the inside but nothing yet from the outside, hopefully soon!

QOTW: I haven'y bought anything yet. I walk around the stores, drooling like crazy over all the things I want to buy though. I'm gonna hit up Buybuy Baby this week with my mom to get the process started. I probably won't purchase much yet, since it's a big superstition in Judaism, but I'm excited to get started!!

  • Hello all! 16w today and holding steady. I wonder if some things I feel are LO, but just not sure yet. OB appt yesterday went well: DH loved hearing the strong heartbeat but freaked a bit when doc said "see you soon, it'll be halfway there then!" LOL! Still dealing with occasional morning sickness, but gaining weight (really?). Sleep is a total hit and miss, but pry exacerbated since I'm a night shift worker.

QOTW: I have a quilt rack im excited to fill. We have a bunch on newborn stuff on hand anyways as we were being prepared for a quick adoption placement. Gonna take advantage of a free $20 gift card by starting by Target registry next week! And buying some maternity pants!

This is our third baby, surprise bfp after IF with our first pregnancy (boy girl twins who just turned one). I think we will find out the gender sometime at the end of march although it's killing me not to know! Ha. Anyway haven't really bought anything only because we have so much stuff anyway. But looking forward to getting one or two new things for our newest addition.

Hi, please add me as this is my first time checking into the 2nd Trimester board.  My EDD is August 20.  We don't know the sex yet.

I'm 14 weeks and have my second OB appointment today. We had our FTS last week and the results came back with low probability for Downs, and Trisomy 18 and 13.  We are not going to do any additional testing even though I'm 36.

I told my coworkers this past week and everyone was very excited for us, since some know we've been trying for a while and had struggles.  I also had to buy maternity clothes because my normal clothes with the belly band were not very comfortable.  My concern is the weight gain, I've already gained 16 lbs!!  I'm 5'2" and was 112 pre pregnancy, so freaking out a little when I stepped on the scale.  I'm trying to eat healthier and getting back to my exercise routine (elliptical and weights 4x/week).

QOTW: We haven't purchased anything for the baby yet, but will be cleaning up the nursery this month. Currently it's a storage room.

  • Hi ladies! Seems like everyone is chugging along great! ::Hugs to those that need them::

i'm 26 weeks and actually kinda miserable lol my joints hurt from that relaxin hormone and I still have morning sickness that was supposed to magically disappear after first tri...well my body didn't get that memo but my baby is as healthy as can be so I shouldn't complain and i'm just waiting for our next appointment on the 5 of march. His kicks are starting to wake me up at night so thats fun lol My courses have been going great, I only took two because I haven't been to school in forever and I didn't want to fail lol but its not hard at all so I feel confident to go full time next semester with a 3 month old, that should be interesting!

QOTW: My favorite baby purchase is probably his car seat. I can't believe we will be bringing him home in that. I think seeing him in the seat and putting him in the car will just close the infertility chapter in our lives and let us finally begin another chapter.
  • I am 18 weeks and doing well, other than the odd urine retention issues that I posted about last week. So far no catheter again (not fun) but there are times baby must be positioned to block everything. Laying down on my side helps but that means I am up all night for the bathroom since I can't lay down at work. I know it isn't the worst thing to happen so I try not to complain! Good thing was I got to see baby briefly when the doctor was checking for anything that could be causing the blockage, and he was moving all over the place. I am still waiting impatiently to really feel him though. Next appt is Monday for the anatomy scan!

We haven't bought anything other than a few onesies for our reveal photo (we did a picture of DS holding up a little brother onesie with a big surprise face). We took advantage of the holiday Monday to look at some cribs and car seats, and think we found our favorites. We are waiting until after the anatomy scan to actually purchase them though. I love baby things!

  • Thanks, @Allison7!

My 16 week appointment went well--baby was moving around and kicking the doppler like crazy!  HB was in the 150s and, as we all believe, is the most beautiful sound ever!

I am feeling well--still nauseous if my belly is empty but overall I am feeling great!  Still waiting on the extra energy coming back... and waiting, and waiting.

We will have our A/S on the 19th of next month which seems like so far away but hopefully everything will be functioning and growing as it should be.

    Much love to you ladies!

  • Hi Ladies!

Thanks for asking, @Allison7. I have not tried peppermint oil and caffeine. Thankfully, the migraines have not returned. MH drove me home from work, and I wrapped my scarf around my head to block the light. I was a pathetic sight! I took Tylenol and drank a bunch of water when I got home, and that seemed to help!

18 weeks today, not much going on. I had some bloodwork drawn on Monday, and our next ultrasound and anatomy scan is March 3! Can't wait to find out what we're having!!!

The crib hunt also continues. We must have excellent taste in cribs because every one we love is discontinued or sold out! It's aggravating, but we're still looking! We have checked at Baby Depot, Babies R Us, and Target.. Anyone know of any other places??? We don't have a Buy Buy Baby nearby at all :(

QOTW - so far, my favorite things for the baby have to be the wall decor in the nursery. I have a few pieces that my grandmother creweled back in the 70s and 80s(they've been passed from nursery to nursery within the family for 30 yrs). We are also getting a few pieces of artwork framed.
  • Hello!  My last check-in here, I can't believe it!  27 weeks and 6 days!  Tomorrow is my glucose challenge test and another ultrasound, so hopefully all goes well.  I am excited for the ultrasound, but much less nervous than I was going into the early ones when I couldn't feel anything.  Now she just moves all over the place!

I feel like such a slacker but I really haven't bought much!  We are moving when she'll be about 6b weeks old (thank you Air Force) so we aren't even going to set up a nursery here, which is driving me a bit crazy!  We got some CUTE hats from easy for Christmas.  My first baby shower is this weekend (!!!) so I am waiting until those are over to make many purchases.

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • Hi everybody! All is well here. I have been feeling the baby move pretty much every day for the past week or so, which I love. Looking forward to (and also nervous for) my anatomy scan a week from Thursday.

I thought I would be one of those ladies who refuse to buy anything until 3rd tri but I've surprised myself in the past couple of weeks. I bought a Bloom Alma mini-crib (same function as a bassinet, but the mini-crib just seemed safer to me), a PPB diaper bag (adorable), and a Baby Bjorn bouncy chair. I also started a registry.
  • @RG0405 I am a PT as well. So far seems like I can hang, but getting harder. Hope it is ok with you!!

AFM, I can't believe I will be 25 wks tomorrow. My latest amusement is seeing people's reaction to my belly. It is huge and getting bigger each day. I'm happy for it tho! Luv feeling them move. Just makes me smile! Next appointment tomorrow and glucose test (fingers crossed). Yes, baby boy got off my nerve and groin pain went away. Thanks for asking! Just starting to see some foot swelling. So weird! Our bodies are sooo different!

QOTW: I think I got most excited about ordering the cribs! Just did Sunday night. Of course, everything so far is so cute!

    Happy week everyone!

  • Hello hello!

22 weeks today, woohoo! We are doing good over here! The u/s went great and the babies are awesome, though they're little ninjas and kept kicking each other in the face most the time lol.

I am feeling pretty good (despite heartburn, leg cramps of death and really bad RLP) and am happy that I've had a pretty low-key, easy peasy twin pregnancy so far. I'm anxiously waiting for V-Day though, so hurry up and get here already!

I had a cervix check the other night and it's night and tight and 5cm long, so that makes me happy! I'm definitely going through a growth spurt right now and my belly is getting more and more out of control every day. Hubby loves it though and is finally starting to feel the girls kick. It's amazing :)

    Love reading everyone's updates!

QOTD: I don't have a favorite thing we've ordered really, though we did have really good luck with the cribs and were able to get 2 for $108 at Target. My frugal heart was happy!

  • For cribs @missusw218, check out overstock.com.  Prices seem reasonable and good quality.  Definitely read the reviews.  We haven't bought any baby stuff yet, but basically remodeled our master bath from overstock.  Great quality and amazing prices.

  • We are 17 weeks tomorrow!! We did our cervical ultrasound yesterday and everything looks fabulous!!! I was scared the other day because during our NT scan baby B was measuring on the high side of normal but doctors said it was fine. Then two days ago I get a phone call saying I need to go get an echo done on baby B to be sure everything is okay. I was told it was a precautionary but still added stress. Other than that hiccup, this week has been great! Baby b is constantly kicking me, which I love. Baby A I have only felt once because the placenta is a barrier between the baby and me. I love love feeling flutters!!

  • UPDATE - had a great u/s today!  Love seeing our little wiggle worms in action!!  Baby girl is measuring about 4 days behind average, and baby boy is measuring about 5 days ahead - so still a bit of a size difference, but both are within normal range, so the doctors will just continue to monitor her progress to make sure she continues to grow at a steady rate.  And, it was a huge relief to be told that the reason I've hardly felt her move is because she has an anterior placenta absorbing her movements -- I've been a bit worried this week that I hadn't felt her move at all since last weekend (which was the first time I've felt her move).

  • @sarah_beth2005: Is anterior placenta similar to placenta previa? I was told I have marginal placenta previa. I have been feeling flutters for quite some time now. They have started to get a little stronger. Are u on any restrictions or activity modification?
  • @Allison7, can you please add me? Due date is August 16 with twins.

I'm 15w2d today and I feel like time is flying! Our NT scan and bloodwork came back with an increased risk of Down Syndrome because my stupid HCG levels were higher than expected so we're currently waiting on the results of the Harmony test just to be better prepared for what we may be up against. Otherwise, next OB appointment is 3/11 and our anatomy scan is 3/31. I'm excited we get to see our LOs a few times in March.

QOTW: I honestly haven't purchased anything yet, but will probably be buying two NY Giants onesies in the very near future.

  • @RG0405 - an anterior placenta means the placenta is in the front of the uterus (so it acts like a pillow between your belly skin and the baby, and absorbs all of baby's small movements, until baby becomes stronger).  Placenta previa is when the placenta blocks the cervix -- marginal means your placenta is only partially covering your cervix.  I had a marginal placenta previa that was diagnosed in December (when I kept having reoccurring bleeding for no reason), but thankfully the placenta moved a bit further away from the cervix as Baby A grew, so hopefully it won't be an issue for us any more.  Hopefully your placenta previa will resolve itself, too, as your baby grows and things shift around!
