Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Favorite diapers for size 2-3

My LO is 3 months was 14lbs 26in at his last check up 2weeks ago & is wearing size 2. He has worn huggies snugglers since newborn size and even though the recommended weight of size 2 is 13-18lbs they seem a little snug around his thighs & short on the front where they close but big everywhere else. Just wondering what diapers you guys use for size 2 or 3

Re: Favorite diapers for size 2-3

  • I use Pampers Swaddlers and they do not leak that much. I have never had any issues with them.

  • Target up and up diapers is what we have been using and they have worked great. We had some pampers swaddlers from our shower that we used and they were nice as well but the target brand is cheaper. My DS is 15 lbs and 26" and I still feel like he has some room to grow till we go up a size.
  • We love Pampers Swaddlers. We have tried Huggies and Target brand. Huggies always leaked and I just did not like the feel of the Target brand. We will always use Swaddlers.
  • We use pampers swaddlers and love them! No problems with leaks on dd since switching.
  • we use pampers swaddlers...they are nice and soft.  Tried switching to Target brand and I thought they felt like paper...so just stuck with the expensive ones :)

  • Pampers swaddlers.  They are soft and hold everything in.  Huggies worked ok. LO could poop out of them somehow... Yuck..
  • Target Up & Up. My LO is a little over 13lbs and probably 25 in so close to your LOs size. Pretty much all I buy and you can get really good deals on them if you find them on sale and use Targets Cartwheel app for coupons.

  • DS and DD are Huggies users. I have always liked them more than other diaper brands and store brands.

  • DS is 3 months and 16+ pounds, 26+ inches. We just moved into size 3 earlier this week.
We've been using Luvs for a couple months now.

Prior to that we had tried Pampers Swaddlers, various Huggies, Costco brand, and Up & Up.
We had blowouts with all of them at least once a day.

Since we've been using Luvs we've had an explosion only a handful of times.

What is the most noticeable difference between Pampers and Luvs? I like Swaddlers, but I have been hearing really good things about Luvs lately and am considering switching.

The Luvs have more ruffles around the side that extend a little further down his thigh so it prevents poop from seeping out.

I can say they're really absorbent also. He sleeps 9.5 - 11 hours overnight and doesn't leak through.

You could always just buy a small pack at first to see how you like them.
  • Thank you @cagoldi. I will buy a small pack to try them out and let you know how I like them.

  • I just used Luvs for the first time. While I had no trouble with leaking at all, I can't stand the smell (before they are used). It's like they tried to make them smell like powder but there is this chemical smell mixed in. I felt the same way about pampers and I think they are actually the same company.
  • We are also a Pampers Swaddlers household.

  • I use target up&up.

We tried pampers swaddlers but those were super leaky.

  • I've usually found that we are ready to go up a diaper size about the time LO hits the bottom weight for the next diaper size up. I've never been able to keep using a size until we hit the top range weight. Anyways, LO is a pretty squishy guy so he is about 18-19 lbs now at 3 1/2 mo. He wears size 3 pampers baby dry. I like swaddlers, but they make his bottom break out. Luvs work pretty well but still leak occasionally. I've never been a Huggies fan.

  • Thank you ladies! We actually used pampers swaddlers at size 1 for a while because we got them from our baby shower I was not a fan it says they last 12 hours yet after 4-5 hours it felt & looked gross like it was so full it was gonna explode and his clothes felt damp constantly at night
  • Huggies. Love em. I dont go by the weight range on the package though; if they seem too small, just try the size 3s.

  • Target and Luvs are the best. They don't have that smell and they hold just as much. They aren't as soft as Pampers Swaddlers, but they are by no means hard. And they are much cheaper!!

FS (age 5) and FD (age 2) to become AS/AD very soon!

  • I love the Costco brand. They are like the off brand of huggies. They don't have a strong smell, the are soft, they are just awesome. Haha
My daughter gets rashes from Up&Up, Luvs, and Pampers (I'm assuming because they have more chemicals than Huggies and Kirklannd) so I don't use those anymore.
If your baby has chunkier thighs, go for Huggies. If they have a chunkier tummy and thinner thighs, Kirkland.

  • Pampers swaddlErs for us. Huggies leaked and were just horrible. Dd iS 14 lbs/ 24 inches
  • I use Costcos Kirkland brand. LO is currently in their size 1-2 and we'll have to go up a size soon. My DS is two and in Costcos size 5 diapers. He was my tester when it came to diapers - he blew out of all diapers except Costco!
  • The Honest Company diapers are amazing! You can get a free trial (7 Diapers, travel pack of wipes) they are chemical free, great for sensitive skin! Cute designs too!

  • Luvs all the way. NO blowouts since switching from Pampers Swaddlers and Huggies Little Snugglers.
  • Another Honest Co user here. Love them. Naty Babycare are also great.
