Third Party Appreciation!

Ok so I know we do a lot of complaining. Hell, we have a lot to complain about (not that we would trade it for anything).

But every once in a while someone comes along and does something AWESOME for you, or you and LO.

A mom, friend, neighbor, other relative...

Let's hear some of the nice things that have been done for you or made thing better...

Because happy.

I'll start...my parents came in to visit from NY yesterday. They're staying till Sunday. They kept LO in their room all night and did his feedings (EPer). I just woke up from EIGHT SOLID HOURS of sleep.
My boobs are killing me but I don't even care.

What ya got?

Oh, and no SO/DHs....they have their own thread!

  • My mom and dad finally made it here on Sunday to meet LO ( she hit 2 weeks old Mon). They left yesterday. Dad helped MH with a couple small things around the house. Mom cooked every meal while she was here, and cleaned up the kitchen afterwards. She brought me cookies, and even took time yesterday to wash the linens they used so they are clean for our next visitor (my aunt is staying this weekend).

  • My mom and dad have been awesome about picking DD1 up from daycare everyday since I can't lift her! My mom is leaving for FL for two weeks- it's going to be a long time to go without seeing her!!

  • My mom offered to fly down here in March so I could have a couple of weeknights (when H is at work) where I can sleep.
  • My MIL and SIL have both come to clean my house on two different days. They don't stay long but it's so nice, since I am 78 weeks pregnant, to not be on all fours cleaning behind the toilet or in the tub .
  • Thank you for this thread. It definitely helps keep things in perspective during these miserable last days. We've gotten a lot of love & support but my sister has gone above & beyond to make this time really special.

She moved to the city for grad school & has keys to our place. We've come home to lots of surprises for LO, including handcrafted gifts & baby items she's picked up "just because". As if that wasn't enough, she just volunteered to come by after school in the mid-late afternoon to watch the baby so I can get some much needed R&R (or a quick shower) before DH gets home from work. :D

  • Love these! Since this morning when I posted LO and I have been out shopping and having lunch with my parents. They totally stocked my house from SAMs club, the grocery store and on paper goods and they want to take LO at night for the next 4 nights that they're here so I get some sleep!

  • I love this thread. There are wonderful people in the world!

My parents made us several big meals while we were doing the nicu thing- stuff that reheats well like chili and pasta dishes, things that will last us most of a week so we don't have to worry about anything. My mom has also come over more than once and washed my dishes and laundry while I snuggle with DS.

My aunt and grandmother came over today and brought me lunch- also cleaned my kitchen, watched DS sleep while I showered, and got us gift cards for Chinese food and pizza for when we need dinner made for us.

And a friend of mine from my TK days sent me a Starbucks gift card. She can't physically be with us(because Canada) but knows that what a new parent needs is caffeine, and lots of it!

  • My mom comes over usually every day for a few hours while my SO is at work. She plays with baby and puts her to sleep so I can shower, eat, etc. She also has done my laundry, dishes, swept and steamed the floors, played with our cats, etc. Seriously has kept me sane!!!
