Ovulation pain and IUI timing

I triggered with Ovidrel last night, and this morning I had a dark-ish (but probably not +) ovulation test. Around noon today, I started getting some sharp pains on my right side (which is the side the follie is on), which have since become dulled a bit. Ovulation pain? I took another ovulation test at about 1pm today, and it is a definite positive. How long is it likely to be between ovulation pain and actual ovulation? My IUI is scheduled for late tomorrow morning, and I am worried if it will be too late? Or is this timing correct? We BD on Sat night, but that feels like too long ago to figure in.

I tried calling my RE, but the office is closed due to the holiday. I left a message with the on call line a couple of hours ago, but haven't heard back yet. THey said to call back in 30 mins if I haven't been contacted, but I am worried that I am overreacting.

Any thoughts?

Don't worry! You're not too late! Prior to the trigger shot, the eggs are stuck to the side of the follicle. The trigger loosens the eggs before they release, so that's probably what you are feeling. I have always felt every little thing in my ovaries. I feel ovulation pains immediately after the trigger, with the most intense pain 40 hours after the fact. Good luck with your IUI!

I think your timing will be perfect! I usually start to feel O pain 24-48 hours before I actually O. If your timing is anything like might, I almost always O around 24 hours after my first +OPK.

Thank you, ladies!! This helps me relax a bit. I generally don't O on my own, so I'm not really familiar with what it feels like, and was worried.

The RE called back and also said that I should be fine. She mentioned that it could be also pain from the follie growth, and that we could BD tonight if I was really concerned. I don't think that we will BD, though, as I don't want to risk lowering his numbers for IUI tomorrow.

I have pains for days before and after ovulation. Also, if I'm not mistaking the trigger shot can cause an OPK to turn positive along with an HPT. Good luck!

I triggered Friday night (yes having my hubby give me a shot in the butt sure is a sexy valentines day). I had my IUI on Sunday. I felt cramping type pains beginning on Saturday into Sunday. I still feel some pain/ discomfort- not sure if ovulation pain or maybe from the IUI. It's hard to tell because I don't really feel ovulation pain normally- since I don't ovulate on my own

I can feel when I ovulate and for me, there is usually a build up to it. Then I feel sharp almost double you over kind of pain that lasts about 4 hours when I ovulate. Maybe you are just gearing up to ovulate. I had a cycle where I ovulated before expected and my IUI wasn't until the next day. My RE said if I ever feel like that, just have sex to be on the safe side because there's nothing they can really do at that point. Hopefully though, the trigger will keep you from actually ovulating for 36 hours. I hadn't had it yet when I ovulated early.

This morning my temp hasn't jumped, and the OPK is still + so hopefully that means that I'm still on track for timing. FX! We didn't BD b/c I didn't want to mess with his numbers for IUI this morning, but I'm sure we will tonight.

I don't know if the OPK would give you a true reading after a trigger shot. The trigger is HCG (which can turn an OPK positive). I still temped during my medicated cycle, but I didn't use OPKs after the trigger (although I did before just to make sure I didn't O early!).

My RE likes to time the trigger 36 hours before the IUI. So doing it one night and going in two mornings after sounds like perfect timing to me. Good luck!

Ugh, good point. The OPK was still pos yesterday and today, and my temp hasn't gone up yet, so maybe I still haven't ovulated? I really want to know when it happens. The RE gave me progesterone support this time around, which I'm supposed to start today (though they're not sure if I need it), but I'm worried about using it if I haven't O'ed yet.

No harm in waiting a day on the progesterone if it makes you feel better.

Thanks. It's funny that I don’t really use the HPTs, but I go nuts trying to pin down when I've O'ed - probably because I don't o on my own. DH is also traveling this upcoming weekend, so I'm anxious to know that we've hit the timing right before he leaves!

If it won't risk anything, I may wait until tomorrow to start the progesterone.

I am kinda in a similar situation. I was having some pain in the left ovary Monday afternoon and was worried that I was ovulating. I had my ultrasound yesterday and there were 2 follies one at 17 and the other at 21 ( so I assume I didn't ovulate because they were still there right? ( I have PCOS and don't ovulate by myself) I took femara cd 3-7 and triggered with ovidrel last night. Woke up this morning with a little bit of CM but not very stretchy (sorry tmi) my iui is set for tomorrow at 10am. I am worried that I already ovulated or its too late for the IUI tomorrow : (
