Nausea back?

I'm 29 + 3 today, and my nausea seems to be coming back.  I've been having heartburn, so I assume it is related (baby pushing things around and up), but this didn't happen with my first.  I didn't have morning sickness with my first, either, and did with Baby #2, so I don't know if there is a link there either.  Is anyone else having this happen, too?

Re: Nausea back?

  • I've been getting nausea too lately! But also getting heartburn so I kinda chalked it up to that. Especially when I lay down. I didn't have MS that much either in first tri. Feel better!!

  • Mine never fully went away. I've been on diclegis since 17w (zofran before that but the constipation was awful) and my doc just re-upped the prescription to cover the rest of the pregnancy. It keeps me from throwing up, which is nice.

  • My morning sickness has been coming back in spurts. I think it's triggered by heartburn? I haven't had to use Zofran so it's not that bad. Just random barfs here and there. I'm carrying really high so maybe that is part of it too.

  • Ok, I'm not crazy, then.  I haven't actually gotten sick, just nausea sometimes.  I just thought I was weird...glad I'm not (at least in this regard).  Thanks, guys...I won't stress about it, then, just deal until baby is here. ;)
  • I have to be so careful about eating right after I wake up or I get nauseous over having nothing in my stomach. Or, if I wake up and drink something cold that makes it happen. Or if I eat something sweet. I typically wake up and have a small drink of (not cold) water, then try to eat some fruit or toast while figuring out my actual breakfast. Even if I get up at 4am to pee I have a few bites to eat then, usually crackers or something, or my stomach will start with the "I'm gonna puke hunger pains". So fun.

  • I only had morning sickness once in my first/second tri, but have always had heartburn/indigestion. With that said, I frequently have waves of "Oh man, is this the morning I'm going to puke?" as I get ready for work in the morning. I try to breathe through them and eat some Nilla Wafers or other bland snack.
  • Sounds like this is happening to a lot of you, but definitely be aware that ladies developing HELLP syndrome often barf. So it's prob worth a quick call to the doc if you haven't checked in with them yet. My friend had it and that was her first clue. Baby was out via c-section later that day.

  • I had no morning sickness whatsoever un my first tri, I am also 29 weeks and just started getting sick feeling once in a while throwing up , it seems if I don't eat anything and stomach is empty I get nauseous quickly, or if I eat too large of a meal
  • I got it back during third tri last time, but it came a little later, maybe at 34 weeks.  I handled it the same way I handle first tri nausea, eating crackers or snacks when I wasn't feeling well.  Not looking forward to that :(

  • I get days where I have no appetite at all and struggle to eat, but I also find that I get nauseous when my blood sugar is low. I find it helpful to keep a sugary snack in my bag so my stomach doesn't get empty.

Before you go and freak-out like I just did...here is some info about HELLP

    HELLP Syndrome

    What is HELLP Syndrome?

HELLP syndrome is a life-threatening pregnancy complication usually considered to be a variant of preeclampsia. Both conditions usually occur during the later stages of pregnancy, or sometimes after childbirth.

HELLP syndrome was named by Dr. Louis Weinstein in 1982 after its characteristics:

H (hemolysis, which is the breaking down of red blood cells),
    EL (elevated liver enzymes) and
    LP (low platelet count).

A suspicion of HELLP syndrome can be frustrating to the physician when all requirements for its certain diagnosis are not apparent. In some patients who are developing HELLP syndrome the primary preeclampsia indicators of high blood pressure and protein in the urine may not be present, and its symptoms can be mistaken for gastritis, flu, acute hepatitis, gall bladder disease, or other conditions. While some of these other conditions may also be present, there is no evidence they are related.

Early diagnosis is critical because the morbidity and mortality rates associated with the syndrome have been reported to be as high as 25%. As a result, patient awareness of HELLP syndrome, and how it relates to preeclampsia, is helpful to ensure optimal and timely medical care for mother and baby.

    Symptoms of HELLP Syndrome

The physical symptoms of HELLP Syndrome may seem at first like preeclampsia. Symptoms reported by the pregnant woman developing HELLP syndrome may include one or all of the following:

    • headache
    • nausea/vomiting/indigestion with pain after eating
    • epigastric (abdominal) or substernal (chest) tenderness and right upper quadrant pain (from liver distention)
    • shoulder pain or pain when breathing deeply
    • bleeding
    • visual disturbances
    • swelling

    Signs to look for include:

    • high blood pressure
    • protein in the urine
  • Yes! I've had horrible morning sickness (all day sickness) during 1st tri and it started to wear off once I hit 2nd tri. I still occassionally get sick like 1-2 times a week. But every since Friday (Valentine's Day) I have been nauseated and/or vomiting every single day! I was sick with my 1st pregnancy throughout the entire pregnancy, but I'm feeling like I'm reliving the 1st tri all over again! Ugh!!! I'm 27 weeks.

Thanks for this info. I had no idea!
