Car sickness?

Hello all,

My 2 year old pukes on ever car ride that lasts longer than 15 minutes.

Any advice for car sickness or should I just call his Ped?

Thank you.

Re: Car sickness?

  • You can try ginger cookies, sea bands, or a higher seat so he can see out the windows. No eating within 15 minutes of the ride.

  • My son did that about that age. He grew out of it within a couple of months. My dr said give a little bit of benadryl. Just a little!! It does help. Other than that I have no suggestions. Thank goodness he out grew it!!

  • I have no experience with this as a parent, but as a person, I've always had bad car sickness. Unfortunately it wasn't until recently someone told me to not eat as much sugar, particularly before car rides - and it works! I don't know what it is, but I do notice when I've eaten/drank sugar I feel car sick...even when I am the one driving. Worth a shot?

Also, again, speaking from my experience, I can't imagine raising the carseat so he can see out the window better as a PP suggested. I know for me, that would make it worse.

Another suggestion, I always feel more sick when I am multi-tasking in the car. Anything from reading texts/playing on the internet, turning around to get something out of the backseat, sifting through my purse, etc. Maybe it would help if he didn't have toys or something to occupy his hands?

    Good luck!
