So you mothers of 3+

How the heck do you do it?!! Do you think 3 is just as hard as 2 kids or did the 3rd put you over the edge. Cause with 2 kids I'm exhausted and sooooo busy, how the heck do you add another to the mix. I can't even imagine right now, but maybe it's my kids ages right now.

  • I don't think it's having 3 that's hard so much as the age gap - especially between the youngest 2. I mean, I don't think it'd be much easier if it was only DD2 and Baby Boy. I'm kind of curious to see EmpireMom's take on this, since there is a much bigger gap between her kids.

Also, what is making it harder for me is the fact that we moved into a new house right when Baby Boy was born - it's twice as big as our old condo, so that means twice the cleaning...

  • I think about this a lot because we do want a third but I don't know if I will survive. Just getting out of the house with these two is a project. I can't imagine doing it with three! I have a friend with five boys and they are all 18-24 months apart! How does she do that????
  • OMG I wonder this all.the.time.

DH's cousin and his wife just had their 3rd this past year.  I was expressing my amazement at her taking all three girls shopping.  She had to remind me that it's soooo much different having a fairly self sufficient 7 & 5 year olds.  The girls can walk on their own in the store, dress themselves, go to the bathroom, the oldest can take a shower and get herself things to eat and drink.

I'm so stuck in the high maintenance infant & toddler phases, it's really tough for me to imagine the future when I won't have to do every single thing for both of the kids!

Dude, DD1 walked into my room this morning - and she was already dressed. I thought I was still asleep and dreaming.

  • For me it is more about the ages. Having a newborn with a 4 and 6 year old was so much easier than having a newborn with a 2 year old. The older boys can and do help, but DD can be very demanding.

LOL that's what I'm talking about....I can't imagine a day when I don't have to dress both of them, and myself, to go out.  I mean, I know it will happen one day, but the concept is so hard to grasp.
