August 2014 Moms

I keep calling the baby...

"Her" today.

Even responding to the post-baby work thing, I kept having to go back and change "her"s to "Baby" "he/she".

I've still got a few weeks until we find out, and DH thinks I'm just losing my mind (possible), but if I'm right, he'll never be allowed to question my "mother's intuition" again, lol (he thinks its an unfair wager at 50/50)

Is anyone else "feeling" one gender over the other?

Re: I keep calling the baby...

  • Yep, I knew my first was a girl.  With my second I muddied the water for myself with what DH wanted...but I think I knew it was a girl.  This time, it's a boy.  This is the first time we'll find out before the birth.

  • I have felt girl since very early! We are team green so we have some time to wait before we find out

  • I keep say he and we are team green. We'll see what happens in 6 months lol.

I applaud you for that.  I am way too impatient to do that!

Maybe if we have a third, and already have one of each!

I kept referring to baby as 'he' until my RE told me almost definitely (waiting until a/s to be sure) that its a girl!

  • I keep calling that baby a he, mostly because it's easier than just saying 'the baby' when talking about it.  I honestly was hoping for a boy at first, but now that my SIL is having a girl in May, I'm leaning more towards girl.  I don't really have a feeling either way, but I can't wait to find out.

  • I have a strong feeling I'm having a boy.  I'm not sure why I have that feeling but it's the opposite fore everyone else.  Anytime they talk to me about the baby they refer to it as "she".  I guess we'll find out in a few weeks.
  • I keep say he and we are team green. We'll see what happens in 6 months lol.

I do the exact same thing! Just over 5 months for me to know for sure. In my heart, I feel like we're having a girl but I really want a boy. I call him 'he' like in some irrational way I think I can sway the sex

  • I keep trying to keep it gender neutral but my H keeps referring to the baby as "Travondra".  He has joked for years that if we have a girl her name will be Travondra & a boy would be Travis Jr. or TJ (neither of these names are remotely on our real list!).  Because he keeps referring to baby as Travondra, I have started to as well...not good, not good.

  • I am feeling boy and the old wives tales all say boy, which is probably why I am feeling like its a boy! But I call the baby she or Charlotte. It started out as a joke because I love the name and DH hates it, but now it's a habit! It will be interesting to finally find out!

  • I honestly have no clue which I'd prefer.  Having a daughter scares me about as much as having a son.  Lol.

DH says he wants a boy, but I know a little girl would have him wrapped around her finger in no time.

My neice wants a girl, though my coworkers all say boy.

  • I absolutely KNEW DS was a boy ever since I saw the BFP.  I even had a conversation with H right after confirming BFP at the doctor's office that we could try for a girl a couple months after DS was born.  It was crazy.  I only doubted myself the hours before we went in for the A/S out of fear I'd been referring to a girl as a boy.  This time around I'm not sure, but H keeps asking me what I "feel" it is.  I think I'm confusing it with whatever I want on that day lol  But I read somewhere that women that predict the gender of their baby are correct 70% of the time.  I think it's the begining of mother's intuition ;)

  • I've got a feeling we're having a girl, but only because when I picture us a year down the road with a baby I picture us with a girl, which is so strange because I've ALWAYS thought we'd have boys (my husband has 2 brothers who both have sons and he has 13 cousins and only 2 are girls). We'll find out in about 3 weeks.

I find out sat too!! I've never wanted a week to go by faster lol

I've been referring to baby as he although I feel it's a girl from me and DH having dreams about it, I think it's like @heightdeprived said its kind of a neutral reference

  • I feel like I'm having a boy. I picture the baby as a boy in my belly all the time. Not sure if it is mother's intuition or just wanting a boy lol we will find out in a few weeks!
  • My gut feeling after the first ultrasound was that it was a girl. I had dreams about it. DH kept saying it was a boy, but I really felt it was a girl. The verifi test says I was right!

  • We call the baby he, so does my sister. And a random lady at my grandpa's memory care home that likes to chat with me.
  • I think it is a boy, and DH thinks it is a girl. We will find out in 2 weeks at our ultrasound. We pick out in utero names when we are pregnant so we don't use he/she until we know. This one is Lenny. DS was Roni while pregnant.

  • I'm not, but everyone else is. People have been overwhelmingly voting boy. I mentioned it on another thread, but my in-laws have started calling the baby nothing but "Will" (our boy name). It's a little over the top at this stage.

  • We call it a he all the time. We are team green and don't have a preference but both have a feeling that it's a boy. I do say it sometimes so I'm trying to curb that and call it "the kid".
  • I was convinced I was having a boy. CONVINCED. But then again, I really wanted a boy. I knew I would be shcoked and just wouldn't know what to do with myself if it were a girl (rocky mother-daughter relationship with my mom).

So we were quite taken aback (and slightly disappointed) when the sonographer said its a girl. However, as that was at my 12 week scan so I was not setting it in stone just yet. Before then we often referred to baby as he. I would always scold DH when he did it and try not to do it myself too much. I would tell him, we dont know yet! And I didnt want to create that expectation for ourselves. However, it felt right when we said "he". As I stated before, I still feel niggly about the sex and tried to prevent DH from telling, but as I begged him not to tell too many people about baby at all before 12 weeks, he's asked me to "not to take this away from him". So he's told just about everyone already that its a girl. Anyway, despite all this, I dont feel right saying she, and just try to say baby. So we'll see what happens!

  • Both my DH & I were convinced that my DS was a girl.  I'm thinking girl again this time, which probably means I will be having another boy.

I was thinking I wanted a boy at first but since I've gotten pregnant I've convinced I'm having a girl! DH thinks I'm crazy too lol he just thinks because I think its a girl it will be a boy. I think I'm right of course but we will see in the next 4-6 weeks!! I'm so excited to find out! I also say she all the time!
  • My baby girl!!! I still call the baby a girl my DH this is a girl too. We will find out in 3 more weeks I'll be happy either way but I will be shock and a little sad if it's a boy.

    THIS!

    Same here!

  • My husband is convinced it's a girl, so I've started using "she/her" now too! We're team green too so it'll be a long 6 months until we find out. I secretly hope it's a girl because we are way more likely to agree on a girl's name than a boy's. Plus all the cute dresses... If it's a boy we'll be equally thrilled but I think it will be hard to undo months of using the wrong pronoun haha!
  • I call it 'it'.  My husband and many co-workers thinks it's a girl, so I'm probably having a boy out of spite.  Unfortunately, I don't necessarily feel pregnant, so hopefully when I find out in two weeks what we're having I'll be able to wrap my head around the whole pregnancy.
