Poll- Leah or Lia?

My DH's top choice for our baby girl is Leah, but I am just not loving the "usual" spelling ( I think the h at the end is ugly). I am drawn to the italian spelling Lia. Which do you prefer?

  • My name is Lia and I get TONS of compliments on the name plus the way it is spelled

  • I chose Lia, because I never know if I should pronounce Leah as "LEE-a" or "LAY-a" (I've met an equal amount of both).

    This.

Most people I know spell it Leah, but as pp just said, there's more than one pronunciation for Leah. With Lia, you know what it is.

  • I have a friend with Italian background so she chose Lia. Lia Christine. So pretty!

I think I like the look of Lia more than Leah. And I also sometimes never know whether Leah is Lay Uh or Lee Uh.

  • I prefer Lia for reasons PP mentioned. I never know how I'm supposed to pronounce it when it's spelled L-E-A-H.

I'm liking Lia better.  I had once thought of the spelling "Lea" as a possibility, since DH's dad's mn was Leo.  But I think people would pronounce it "lee" instead of "Lee-ah".  Plus we have a friend who's name is Lea and his is pronounced "lee".

ETA:  And there's also a family around here with the last name Lea, pronounced "lee", so that would add to the confusion.
