The nurse called me today to tell me that 2 out of the 4 vials during my 3 hour test came back elevated. She said that it doesn't mean I have GD, but that I have to go to the high risk pregnancy center for additional testing. She said she didn't know what those tests would be, but that after them I would probably get the monitor for a week or 2 to see if I really have GD.
My question for those of you who have been through this. What kind of additional testing is there before I get the monitor thing? I was hoping she would know more...

with DD, my results came back 2/4 were elevated. I was considered GD and sent to an MFM (mostly because my practice was large and they didn't do it in office)
the only additional testing I had was f/u ultrasounds to monitor baby's growth. The MFM office also did all of my diabetic teaching and monitoring. Toward the end of my pregnancy, I had weekly NST.
I found that the first few weeks my blood sugars were good as long as I followed the GD diet recommendations. Only toward the end did I struggle with my fasting numbers.
This pregnancy, I am choosing to forgo the 3 hour after having a slightly elevated 1 hour (by 4 points) and will test and be monitored the remainder of my pregnancy. My new MW office has staff on-site that will track my results. I will be sent for an u/s around 32 weeks to check LO's growth. My MW also mentioned that I may have a few additional if I end up on medication again.
I'd rather be labeled as GD and get thorough care, then only be monitored for a short time. GD can progress as the placenta grows, so I would be worried about not being monitored later in pregnancy, however that is only my experience and I am not a medical provider :-)
My doctor said that even if 1 is elevated, they consider you GD. This is what happened to me in my first pregnancy. He had me do fingersticks and log my food. It was annoying but I am thankful it wasn't worse. Some people have such a HORRIBLE time with it.
2/4 elevated is diagnostic of GD. I have no clue what your nurse is rambling about. I failed my 3 hour, no clue what was elevated. And from then on it was checking my levels 4x/day, strict GD diet, and eventually insulin which got me weekly NSTs & monthly BPPs to check weight & placenta.
Hmmm... I'm wondering why they won't just say that I have GD then? And now that makes me even more curious as to what these additional tests will be...

I just got back from meeting with the nurse to show me how to test blood sugar, as I failed 2 of my 4 tests during the 3 hour and am therefore considered GD.
