s/o Honey

Is honey allowed if you cook/bake with it? We were giving DD some food at ILs and MIL remembered that she cooked the chicken with honey garlic sauce. I'm wondering if the high heat kills off the potential problem.

Re: s/o Honey

  • I wouldn't be overly concerned at this point.  If you would have known prior I wouldn't have given it, but not knowing...what's done is done, I wouldn't stress.  I would look up symptoms of a bad reaction to it, watch for those symptoms. That's all you can do.  But I wouldn't worry myself until I'm sick over it either.
  • @beasleji oh, I'm not worried. It just got me wondering because I sometimes cook with honey.

  • I think it's still a no- I remember something about my mom sweetening applesauce with honey instead of straight sugar, and we didn't give it to other babies in the family.

  • Cooking heat does not pasteurize the honey.
