Maternity Pics?

Is anyone else having them done? I've never done them but since this is going to be my last and I've been terrible about documenting any of my pregnancies, I thought it'd be nice to capture my last and make it more of a family session with just a few of DH and I and maybe a couple solo pics of me. And if you are having them done, when do you think you'll do them? I'm thinking May? Just curious!

We're going to do family pics in April with DD. I figure those will work for maternity pics. Never did them with DD.

I'm a FTM so this will be my first time doing Maternity photos but I'm doing them May 31st and I'm due July 17th. I'm doing some outdoors with my husband and dog then some in the studio

I did them at 29 weeks last time. I had a nice bump, but wasn't just exhausted at that point so I could enjoy it.

I'm planning on doing a handful of maternity pics with my cousin as photographer (she took DH and I's engagement photos) in conjunction with some anniversary photos at around 37 weeks.

I don't like having pictures taken and I've been scarred seeing so many -shall we say- tasteless maternity pictures that I don't know how I'd pull it off. So I'm just taking lots if iPhone pics lol

FTM. DH and I will be having some pictures taken when I'm 25 weeks. It's a little bit earlier than I would've hoped to do them, but my belly is already showing, so I'm sure 6 weeks from now it'll be a good size for pictures. We weren't planning on having maternity pictures done, but it was packaged together with newborn photos for when LO is born.

I did them with DD and I'll do them again. I was 39 weeks.

@livkight I've only seen tasteless ones randomly online. I had mine done at a forest preserve and they were amazing. When the time gets closer maybe we can post some real ones. A friend of mine did hers in the snow and they are amazing. Another friend had hers done at a rustic barn. They can be done well:)

I would love love love to see some good ones!! I think the pregnant shape is so beautiful and it makes me sad that it seems so hard to find good photos-- at least when I look online! But I am sure they are done well all the time! Sorry-- didn't mean to offend at all if I did!

The photographer doing our newborn photos does maternity pics between 32 and 36 weeks. They are to die for (outside and candid) but I don't know if we are going to splurge on them.

We did them around 34 weeks and we will do them again. Ours turned out great, very candid photos in a nice garden area in town. I am so happy we have them!

@livkight Not offensive at all! I just don't want you to skip pics because you haven't seen some good ones yet. I love looking back at mine. I took some very quick screen shots of mine for you. My husband took them so they are not professional. But I think they are along the tasteful lines.

I love your idea @fmb2011. I think it is a lovely idea. I didn't do maternity pictures with my daughter, because I wanted to do newborn photos instead. I'll probably do newborns for this baby too.

I've had family members take maternity pics for me both times, and probably will do that again this time. I'll probably do them in May or so this time.

We will be doing both maternity and newborn photos, not sure when exactly. A coworker friend of mine has a side business doing photography, and she's going to do them for us for free!

I've been debating as well (FTM) and I know it can be done tastefully. I have a good friend who is a photographer and she offered but I know she'll want to do some nudes (she's an artist and I've seen a similar set she did last year. They were lovely but I'm not sure I'll be that comfortable with my body!) so I haven't said yes or no yet!

Thanks for your input ladies! I'd love to see your pics for those of you getting them done! I'm using the same photographer who did DD2's newborn, 6 month, and smash cake/1 year photos so I'm looking forward to getting the same package but getting maternity pics instead of holiday pics. The photos of her previous maternity pics are really good so I hope I can get some good ones too. I'm painfully camera shy so hopefully it's not too bad! Lol! But on a side note, I'd recommend getting newborn pics if you're on the fence. I'm so glad I had them done with DD2and wish they were a thing when I had DS and DD1.

@livknight I love how mine turned out and am so glad I got them done. I personally think they're tasteful!

If I looked like you I'd get them too

I just don't like the way I look pregnant really, taking weekly photos is a big step for me this time. I love looking at other people's maternity photos though.

Definitely doing them! My best friend is a photographer and honestly she wouldn't even tolerate me saying "no" to maternity pics. Here are a couple from last pregnancy. I think I was around 32-34 weeks.?? Some people may find them weird or vein but I think they are so awesome and capture such a precious moment in your life. You will love to look back at them later in life and be so happy you did!

Thanks girl! I say even if you HATE the way you look and you would never show them to anyone, still consider doing them. You could pull them out a couple years later and remember this pregnancy. Even if you're like ewwww I look awful, there's just something magical about them.

We will probably do DDs 2 year pics in April or May so maybe I'll have her throw some maternity ones in.

They're not for me but I don't mind them if they're done tastefully. My cousin had them done and some were inappropriate, IMO. She was in underwear and a see through shirt, for crying out loud! I have seen some cute ones though. Like @jojobean86! Those are really pretty!
