I have an awesome woman who does them for us. When I had an IRS issue (that she didn't cause), she was like a bulldog and wouldn't let up until she got it rectified-- and it went on for almost a year. We moved and I'm still going to her even though she's like 45 minutes away.
We do them ourselves, usually using TurboTax as a way to double check (I don't pay for turbotax because I'm not submitting through them; I'm just making sure the refund/payment are the same).
We went to Liberty Tax Service one year because our return was a bit complicated. I liked them. Although I chose them because I could walk to their office.
We have ours done by a CPA. My husband has a ton of write offs for his job that there is no way that I would be able to do our taxes on my own without messing something up royally.
I do my own with Turbo Tax but H uses a CPA for his. Mine are really simple though and H owns land, a business, and receives oil/gravel income so his are way more complicated.
Re: TAXES
I've sold a condo, written off moving expenses, gotten married, bought a house, had a kid, DH has complicated trust fund forms...
It's still always easy.
