Long story short, I'm taking my 7 year old niece out today for her birthday and wanted to do something fun. I thought about taking her to get her nails done because she's going to a water park tomorrow. Well, her mom just informed me that she took her this morning so that's not gonna work. I thought about build a bear... but her mom is taking her this afternoon. So that is also a no-go. Any ideas?! I think there is a new store at our local mall call Friendship something-rather (don't remember) and you can go make bracelets? I'm not really sure what they do/if I need a reservation/if they only do parties or what. I need a backup plan if this bracelet thing doesn't work out. ...or just a better suggestion all around.
If the bracelet place doesn't work out, I would take her shopping or to lunch or something. My nieces that are 6 and 7 just love being out and about with me. Also if there was somewhere like Dave and Buster's that is appropriate during the day for kids or something like that for kids I would take them.
They also like bowling or roller skating. Things like that. Have fun!
Thanks for all the input gals! We went to the "potty" or pottery place as most of you call it lol-how embarrassing We both painted butterflies, which she picked out. After that, we had a little time to kill while waiting for DS to finish at dentist. So we went up to Ulta & Old Navy just to look around. I told her to pick anywhere she wanted for dinner, she chose Steak n Shake, which I've never been to. My DH brought our kids up there & we had a nice dinner. Then the damn cupcake store closed as we pulled in so we went to Orange Leaf to get frozen yogurt. We had so much fun! She asked when we were hanging out next, wants a play date this weekend & a sleepover soon. I love this little girl
That's awesome!! I'm glad you guys had fun and that you're so close with your niece! I had my 6yo niece over to stay the night once. We slept on the pull out couch and watched movies. Then I took her into the city to American Girl and Legoland. We had lunch at Cheesecake Factory and then went to the top of the Handcock building. All she did the entire day was complain that I didn't buy her anything at AG or Legoland! I was really disappointed. So much so I haven't asked her back in 2 years...

When @willy_gert said her nieces just like to be with her I was thinking, "no I gotta make this memorable! I don't get to spend as much time as I want with her and I gotta make it count!!" Omg, she loved painting and doing a project with me but she LOVED just walking around the store with me. Ladies my heart is still smiling today and I have tears in my eyes looking at the pictures I took. #cloud9
I'm sorry to Debby Downer your post with my bad memory! I'm really really glad you had such an awesome visit! Maybe this will be the start of a super close relationship where she can come to you with her problems

Awww @chapski I am glad she enjoyed her time with you and that your heart is still smiling! The time is what matters! She won't remember the activity, but she will remember you were there!
