FTM baby's kidneys are enlarged

I had my A/S last Thursday the sonographer told me I was having a baby boy. I'm so over the moon as is my partner. She explained everything was perfect with him but when I went to my doctors that afternoon my GP explained that his kidneys are too big for the size that he is. He's measuring on time for my due date July 9th. I'm just wondering has anyone else had anything similar been told to them and what do I have to expect? Of course I'm trying to be optimistic but he's my first baby and I'm abit worried because nothing can be done till after he's born which could be earlier than we initially.

    They told me that my DD's kidneys were enlarged at my A/S. Sent me to a perinatologist for a level 2 scan. He told me they looked fine. )He found another problem that I won't mention because it only happens in 1% of pregnancies.) But my DD was/is FINE. Try not to panic. Are they doing another scan shortly to monitor them? I have heard it's more common in boys

    There will be more monitoring through the pregnancy and some ultrasounds and a few other tests after birth if there is still an enlargement.  Most of the time this will resolve on its own.

    Yep, what everyone else said! My SIL's baby had enlarged kidneys at her scan so they sent her to a specialist. He did an ultrasound and said everything was fine. No problems when baby was born either!
