K has yet another UTI. :(

She was running a fever since Tuesday but showed nine of her other usual UTI symptoms. Given her history the pedi said we should cath her to check anyway given her history. I was shocked when it came back positive. My poor girl. Looks like we have to move ahead with some testing to see if there is an anatomical cause. I think they do some sort of contrast x ray. I imagine it won't be fun.

Anybody have any experience?

Poor baby! That's awful, but it sounds like some testing is a good idea at this point.

She will likely drink a contrast and then they wait until it should be metabolized through her kidneys and then do a series of x rays to look at her urinary track.

(They may do the testing a little differently, but that's the general idea)

I have no experience, but I hope that the testing brings some answers as to the cause of the UTIs. I hope K starts to feel better and that you all are getting some rest.

No experience, but lots of hugs. A UTI knocks me off my feet, I can only imagine how it must impact a LO.

No experience with a contrast, but both of my boys have had X-rays. One thing to remember is that you'll have to be alone with K during the test, as they won't allow other children in the room. I remember another twin mom was in the waiting room with me and she was caught off guard by this rule. It's pretty awful to have to hold your baby down during the xray, but fx you'll get a patient and very efficient tech.

No experience, but I am so sorry that little K is having so many of these. Poor little thing and poor mama - it must be so hard to see one of your little girls going through this :-( I hope the additional testing brings the answers you need to get this resolved.

I don't have personal experience, but my aunt and uncle went through this with my cousin. It started before she was a year old as well and she finally ended up having to have surgery

BUT that fixed the problem and it hasn't been an issue since.

If you want I can talk to my aunt about it ... It has been a while now so what they all went through isn't fresh in my mind.

So sorry K is dealing with those - I can't imagine how awful it is for her. Praying the tests show what may be the cause, it's an easy fix, and K doesn't have to deal with them anymore!

So glad they will run tests. I didnt do the die thing but did xray when DS was little and we had to help hold him down. Hope they find answers. Poor thing.

@cinciem - Thank you!!! I talked to the pedi on the phone today and she said they use a catheter to put dye into the bladder and watch it come out. K has been catheterized all three times they needed a urine sample to diagnose her UTIs so we have done it, but it is not fun. She clenches so it is difficult for them to get the catheter in. I did ask the doctor if she knew how they got the baby to stay still for the test. She thinks I might be able to hold her. I feel so bad for my poor baby. Did your LO have to go on low dose antibiotics to prevent any more infections? That is one possibility they are talking about.
