Marital (and sex!) advice from the Duggars

#1 Being- 'always be available'. Ha, I know that ain't going to go over well with some of you bumpies! Anyway, they did have some good advice in there. Thoughts?

I just read that and I've watched the show and I think they are just really in love with each other. The only thing they care about is each other and their children. They are a little crazy but hey.. It's working for them.

This line did make me laugh though..

"When you've missed it for seven days, you look forward to it even more"

I actually don't disagree with most of their advice in that article, other than the waiting 40/80 days thing. That's just bizarre.

But there is a whole world of crazy with them and how they brainwash their daughters.

Hmm...guess I don't see that it is "sweet" that it is up to the wife to be always available for what they are assuming is the husband's powerful sex drive.

Why not also tell the husband to respect his wife's emotional/physical needs and not require sex on a night when all she wants is a long, sweet massage from her husband? Massage connects spouses. Why is that affection, support and connection or the importance of splitting household obligations so women have time to relax and get into the mood not seen as "equal" or "important" as traditional sex?

I might get flamed for this, but I think most of the dads on this board DO help out and pull their weight at home, yet according to all our polls a large portion of the moms on here are not putting out. Unless there are medical issues, I don't think it's fair to neglect that very intrinsic need for a man.

If they're helping clean up, make dinner, wash bottles, bath baby, watching them so you can see friends or go get a pedi...then yes, give that man some sex!

Oh, I completely agree that sex is "a" part of almost all healthy relationships! I just don't think it should be singled out as the "only" way to connect with a spouse or that it should be placed on such a pedestal that a woman could not say "hey, I am not feeling it tonight--let's physically or emotionally connect in a different way this time" (talk about the day and share issues, massage, board game, laughing at a good movie while giving each other foot runs, whatevs).

I feel like they suck at blanket training. I've only seen a handful of episodes, but those kids are always running around like a bunch of maniacs
