Did any of my Canadian (or I guess just Ontario right?) bumpies do any thing exciting for Family Day? We tried to go shopping but everything was closed. I don't know why I didn't realize this was a 'real' holiday!
We bundled up and went for a walk on the lake and got some pictures of Penelope "playing" in the snow. She managed to get her hand free and touch the snow and lost her mind.. That snow is cold stuff..
We had an engagement party for one of my cousins so got to see all the extended family. Other than that we just hung out at home. Trying to let our laziness rub off onto DD
Apparently the major malls were open in GTA? But I'm sure they were cray cray! It was nice and sunny:) but cold:( we stayed in and ate delicious food!! Hope everyone had a good Holiday
We cleaned the house this morning, then DH took DS1 outside to play in the snow this afternoon since it was really mild! Finally! Tonight we installed our new microwave. Exciting day!
BTW - Alberta's had Family Day for years. One other province has it too - maybe Sask?
This family day sounds amazing! Can you explain more about it?
we do not get a lot of long weekends in Canada. It started in 2007, and BC, Ontario, Manitoba,PEI, and Saskatchewan all celebrate. BC decided to celebrate it a week earlier starting last year, cause they like to be "special". The holiday is supposed to emphasize the importance of spending time with your family.

Also, Alberta has it. And we've had it much longer than 2007. I moved here in 1999 and they had it then.
