formula question...

hello there new mommies!

Does anyone know how long you can store unopened formula on the shelf for? I wanted to get a pack of the enfamil nursettes (the ready to drink ones) just to have some in the house in case LO comes early, but I dont know how long you can have them on the shelf for. (I am due in 6 weeks) Anyone happen to know?

If you store them appropriately and don't open them they should be good until the expiration date printed on the bottles.

I was going to order them online so I dont know what the expiration date would be, thats why I was wondering if anyone had a general idea....

I wouldn't order to much until you find out what the hospital is going to use and make sure your LO tolerates it well. You don't want to stock up on anything that you are not going to be able to use.

It depends on expiration date but you've got months with anything you buy now so go ahead.

I would also wait until you know what they give LO in the hospital. Our baby boy came a month early and we didn't have anything in the house. They gave him 2 different formulas in the hospital, so we waited until we got home and DH went to the store and bought the formula that wound up working for DS.

I agree with this. We had to switch each of our kids formulas 2-3 times before finding one the right one for them.

I agree on waiting to see what your baby tolerates. The similac they gave LO in the hospital kept making him spit-up baldy, so we ended up needing the sensitive stomach kind. I would have been so mad if I spent a bunch of money on formula I couldn't use, since it's definitely not cheap!
