Diaper Rash Cream

My LO has some bum redness.. since he was born we have used desitin & butt paste. The butt paste at times cleared it up better than the desitin. This time doesnt seem like the redness is going away with either one of them.

Some people have suggested triple paste & aquaphore. Thoughts on either of these or other suggestions?

thank you

Re: Diaper Rash Cream

  • We've been lucky that Desitin has always worked for us.  If you haven't already done so, you may have LO checked out to see if the redness is related to something other diaper rash.  Our pediatrician cautioned us that diaper rash cream can burn their skin when used too heavily, so perhaps I'm just a little more anxious about this topic than others would be.

  • Are you wiping it off after every change? If so that can make a diaper rash worse. I use CD's so I don't use conventional diaper rash creams. However, other than yeast I've never had any issues with getting rid of a rash using CJ's BUTTer and Grandma El's.

  • We have tried almost all of them...even got something from the doctor before because it was so bad. We have had good luck with balmex or a&d and sometimes calmoseptine has worked too. Also used corn starch or caldesence skin protectant powder when bad.
I have noticed though when using the same one for a while we had to use something else the next time. GL

  • Aquaphor has worked amazingly well for us on every diaper rash, scrape, cut, etc that DD has had.

  • The daycare my son goes to swears by this stuff. It must work because my son never has a rash. https://www.arbonne.com/shop_online/showitem.asp?ProductId=853
  • We're aquaphor fans in our home.  Also, I've noticed that the costco brand wipes are a must for us.  If we use anything else, DS's bum starts to get red.

  • We have always had good luck with Desitin and if we suspected yeast, we would put done a thin coat of Lotramin and that always did the trick.
  • CJs Butter for us - any redness she has at night is gone by morning. We've also had good luck with the grovia magic stick.
  • I use Burt's Bees on DS. Love it.

  • We usage Desitin cause DD has a very sensitive bottom- the one time it started to blister when she was really little the dr suggested mixing the Desitin with bag balm which worked awesome.

  • I've heard good things about triple paste, but never used it.

I CD and use Grandma El's. We find that it works really well for our LO.
  • Triple paste!

Calmoseptin is amazing stuff! A pharmacist friend gave me some at my shower and as an RN, I have asked many docs to prescribe it to patients. It is amazing for clearing red booties!

  • DS has had some pretty bad diaper rash in the past and Triple Paste is what we use! When it gets bad he wears overnight diapers throughout the day for extra absorption. Also using chlorine-free wipes has helped to lessen the rashes.
