GTKY: Names related to songs

For any of you mamas with names already chosen or with current LOs any favorite songs with their name in it, or reference to their name?
with DS I didn't realise till after he was born, I got a ton of "Sweet Baby James" references. DD is Lily and the only one I can think of is Bob Dylan "Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts"

With this LO being Rose, I just made the connection to Neil Diamonds "Cracklin Rosie" as well as RHCPs "She's only 18"

Any of you ladies made musical connections to your LO's ?

  • Well, that's why Roxana is not on our list.

  • @hampire I agree with the endearing part, but by no means did I choose my children's names on the basis of songs, but it's still cool finding them.

As an Annie I always got the non song reference to "Annie get your gun" or "orphan Annie"

  • With DS2 his name is Jarren, and I realized its name of the band to one of my favorite songs, just spelled differently.

Jaron & The Long Road To Love - The song is "I Pray For You" Its not nearly as innocent as the title makes it seem but its still pretty funny yet really messed up. Oh well. DS1 doesn't remind me of any songs by his name.

And this LO is going to be Daniel and all I can think of is "Oh Danny Boy" because it was a family favorite.
  • DH wants to name this baby Emmaline, after a favorite Ben Folds Five song.
We're not going to, but I do love the idea of naming after something musical or literary.  Just won't work with the "framework" we are employing for names.

  • We are both in love with the name Penelope, Penny Lane. Yes, like The Beatles song but not necessarily in reference to it. We are big Beatles fans so I'm sure if we decide to use the name we will get questioned about it.

  • If we were having a girl, Layla would have been a front runner, *because* I love the Clapton song so much. My dad loves it, too, and it always reminds me of him, so that would have been an added bonus. Alas, I am having a boy with no name on the frontier.

  • We nixed Caroline because of "Sweet Caroline" and that's what everyone also associates... At least in SEC country ;)
  • @lest12 I have a close friend named Laila. Not specifically after that song, but her dad always used to play it. I've always loved her name.

  • @temurlang1 - it's such a great song!! DH liked the name but I don't know if he really knows what the song is about and who it was written for, etc... Because then he might be like, you want to name our daughter after what?!?! Lol

  • @danielle4348 Did you consider the name Emily Louise? Still a nod to that song, but not exactly "Emmy Lou". It was on our list for awhile.
