Ergo Performance Question

We bought this a few weeks ago (decided we need to try and wear DS2 more to hopefully make it easier when out with DS1) -- I will need to get the infant insert at some point.

Question in, my boss offered to let me borrow her Ergo Original infant insert. I have no idea if these can be used interchangeably (with the performance carrier) since they are sold separately on Amazon (and the performance version is 7 or 8 dollars more.

Can anyone help me out? They look identical just looking online right now. I'd obviously prefer to use hers for free vs shell out money on the performance insert. But then I figure...if it were the same they wouldn't sell it under two different names (and prices).

    It'll be fine. We used the regular insert with our Ergo Sport. No problems. Love free stuff!

    BFP#2 7/3/13.  U/S at 6w4d showed 1 heartbeat at 127 bmp and 2 empty sacs.  MMC discovered at 10w4d.  D&C 8/27/13.  Pathology showed normal boy.  Missing our babies every day.
    BFP#3 10/29/13!  Beta#1 at 4w5d - 2141, beta#2 at 5w1d - 7651!  U/S 11/21/13 showed baby measuring 2 days ahead with a heartbeat of 127 bmp!

    Curious while you are talking about this... I want an Ergo, but with the infant insert I worry that it will be too warm for my July baby. Anyone have any experience with this? If I can't use the infant insert in the summer, then I just won't bother buying it and will use the Ergo when baby is older. (using a ring sling to begin with)

    My daughter was a July baby and we used the insert. I didn't find myself at too many outside events that I was using it. Briefly walking through a parking lot into the mall or shopping plaza, things like that. I used it a lot indoors, especially at home. I really didn't have a problem with it and the heat.

    Didn't think about that. I'm not gonna be outside! I'm never outside when it's 110 degrees.

    It was too hot for DS, also a july baby, but take that with a grain of salt as he is just a kids who tends to run warm all the time.
