Calling all reflux moms!

I haven't seen an update thread in awhile for moms of babies with reflux...

Is your LO on reflux meds? Cereal in bottles? Special formula?

Have you seen any improvement as LO is getting older?

How much are you feeding at each sitting? Bottles and solids?

We're still doing rice cereal in all bottles. 1 tsp per ounce

No improvement yet. Some days are better than others and I don't understand that. I only have 2 days left of frozen milk then we go to FF. Maybe things will stabilize then?

4 4oz bottles during the day, then 6oz bottle at bedtime- all mixed with rice cereal. If we increase the bottle size, he just spits up the extra. 2 solid meals per day- each is usually 2 Tbsp oatmeal mixed with formula, 2 ice cubes veggie, 3 spoonfuls fruit.

LO is just starting to army crawl. I'm not looking forward to him crawling around the house and leaving little spitups everywhere. Up until now we have been able to contain the spitups on blankets, burp cloths, etc.

  • Is your LO on reflux meds? Cereal in bottles? Special formula?  We stopped the meds at 6 months and she seemed fine when we stopped - still spits up just as much, but it doesn't bother her.  Never did cereal in bottles and thus far EBF so no special formula.

Have you seen any improvement as LO is getting older? Ummm... maybe.  I keep thinking I do but then we have a bad day.  Yesterday morning I Had just finished telling hubby that I think she was getting a lot better when she spit up all over my nightgown and in my hair.  ha.

How much are you feeding at each sitting? Bottles and solids?  We're weaning right now.  She eats 5x a day - this week she will be nursing morning, afternoon, and night, and getting 6 oz. bottles of formula at late morning and early evening.  She's also eating pureed solids around lunch time every day (3-4 oz) and then some kind of table food if we all eat dinner together.

She's very mobile now and is definitely leaving little spit up spots around, @PSNLS.  We have a little play pen that we put a big blanket down and try to keep her in the play pen most of the time so it is contained to that blanket, but doesn't always work.

They say this goes away by a year right?  I'm waiting very anxiously and hoping my nex baby isn't this bad!

Still on Prevacid, but in two weeks or so, we are going to see if he needs it still. Never did rice in a bottle and he is breast fed.

We tried to take him off the Prevacid around Christmas (a little more than 6 months old), but realized he still needed to take it. But, medicine continues to work fantastic. He has days when he spits up a ton and then days where he doesn't at all. When we took him off the medicine for that short stint, his spit up was out of control. He was constantly spitting up :(

He nurses 5x a day, so in not sure how much he gets. But, when he has a bottle instead of nursing, we give him 5 oz and he seems satisfied. He has three solid meals a day and usually will eat 7-8 ounces at each sitting. Sometimes more. He reaaaaalllllly likes food. We have yet to see him dislike a food and he has tried a lot. We noticed a big difference once we started solids at 6 months with his spit up. Obviously there is still spit up, but nothing like it was pre-solids.
