Flabby belly exercises

So... My deflated bump is flabby and Jello-y. What exercises are you ladies doing to tone up your tummies?

Re: Flabby belly exercises

  • I like to do leg raises to work on the lower belly. And just regular old crunches.

  • Pelvic tilts, bridges, attempted a plank but post csection and say not yet.

  • I did Pilates class today!  I used to go regularly, but stopped once morning sickness kicked in.  The instructor, who is VERY good and knew I just had a baby, kept telling me to inhale and exhale hard and move my belly with my breath.

I was actually able to do almost the whole class.  I was astonished.
  • I've heard really good things about blogilates on YouTube. I will be attempting her workouts when I'm cleared to exercise.
  • @mindybadger1 I keep on doing that or eating ice cream and then tellin myself ill start working on tightening up the belly starting tomorrow! I am 8w pp and I am still so excited that I have room in my belly to eat an entire meal and no heartburn like during 3rd tri.

I have been doing ab exercises like crunches and leg raises, but have yet to do a real full work out. Maybe tomorrow :)

  • @ksonne -- I did blogilates before I got pregnant. I plan to start up again in March.
  • Eating cookies for dinner. :/

DH went to the store today and made a list. I added Oreos without him knowing. Guess what he bought and then showed them to me when he got home, ha ha!!! Oreos were my fav. When I was preggo. And I was craving them again. Ha ha!!!

  • I plan on getting back into running and doing some cardio and losing some fat before I attempt to tone but from the past I like superman, plank, & leg raises.
  • Thanks everyone. Yeah, I was hoping the flab would magically disappear with breastfeeding... Plus ice cream, cookies, and half and half in my coffee. I need to get moving!

Great to know! I've been doing this instinctively hoping it would help, so glad to "hear" it from a professional. ;)

@thegosiers, thx for posting this thread!

  • The only way I got rid of my belly fat last time----after four years---- was eating a very clean diet (in addition to working out like a beast).

  • I am reading all these and wondering--Is there anything that you can do before being cleared for exercise?
There's lots of stuff! It's all pretty light and based on retraining your muscles, rather than hard exercise, but ya gotta re-learn how to walk before you can run (literally, you have to retrain your muscles so they know "how" to walk w/o 12lbs of baby hanging off your front).

I'm doing these a few times a day:

  • Core training is a great way to get your stomach less flabby.  I just started to do this program:

It is a great fast workout that I can do at home.
  • I would clean up the diet and go for overall goals, like walking or running a certain distance.... Whenever I did Paleo, even just after a few days it was like SHABAM difference in the belly, no joke. If you're looking to exercise just to tone, Id invest the time in the kitchen instead!
  • I am wearing my prepregnancy pants even though they are tight and give me a huge muffin top- it gives me constant reminder incentives to eat healthy and exercise/ keep at it.
