This made me laugh today

So today DH's stepmom and I are at the library with LO.  She says to me "Do you think I should read the Tiger Mother book?"  
I start to get a puzzled look on my face and she says "Because of your parenting style?"  and I start to get a more puzzled and possibly offended look...she continues "You know, how you sleep with him and stuff" and then I say "Oh, do you mean attachment parenting?"

If I wasn't so offended at the time I might have laughed but it is pretty funny now that I reflect on it :)

    Lol. That's funny. Personally, I'd have her read beyond the sling by myiam bialik. It's great that she wants to learn!

    I'd take it as a good thing that she wants to know more even if she doesn't know the correct terms!

    I suppose but it's not as if she needs my permission to read a book. I was just in a I'd better laugh so I don't cry mode, since she obviously asked me this because I'm Chinese, just like dh's aunt bragged to me that she enjoys stir fry. I really find it all offensive, but then again I guess people don't change easily so I should expect that kind of stuff. I really only read one book on attachment parenting and it was after I developed my ideas on what to do, a friend lent it to me when we were talking about co sleeping and it just happens to be a lot like what I do, so I really wouldn't recommend a book since I'm not following a method if you know what I mean.

    You should read beyond the sling! I think you'd really like it! It covers all the bases of AP but explIns how it's not all or nothing. I recommend it to all my friends :) I understand your frustration now. I didn't pick up on the cultural reference at first. I also don't think "tiger mom" would be considered attachment parenting but I could be wrong...

    I'll have to check it out, thanks. Tiger mom has nothing to do with AP, I think she just heard it was about Chinese people and assumed that's how I'm raising my child which is so laughable!

    Ahh now I get it too sorry I thought it was an ap book too.

    Yeah its funny because really no matter what you say she only remembers part of the conversation, eg dh says I hate this restaurant and the week later I drive by with mil and she says oh isn't this the restaurant he likes? So I'm guessing she'll be telling people how tiger moms are attachment parents or something silly :-)
