Bahrain

Has anyone been stationed in Bahrain? Our baby is due March 27th and my husband is likely receiving orders (Navy) for Bahrain for 2 years beginning October of this year. I'm terrified about moving to a new country with a new baby with no family or friends. I just wanted to see if anyone had any information about this area.

    Everyone I know has gone unaccompanied, but I know a few spouses who visited and LOVED the area. Sorry I don't have any specifics, but good luck! Hopefully someone will chime in with some other info!

    I have also heard amazing things about Bahrain, especially the pay. My husband worked in Millington where the orders come from, and people were literally fighting to receive the newest set of orders that popped up for Bahrain. A friend of mine has really gotten into golfing and their golf courses are beautiful, and she has decided to finish school since she doesn't need to work like she did while she was in San Diego.

    We have friends out there now! It took a few months for them to get their household goods, but they are loving exploring, the culture and experience. They say it's a pretty beautiful place to be stationed for a couple years. And she has made a good group of military friends, so a nice support system.
